Lol, I'm from a country with healthcare so I just go to the doctor and my X-ray is free. Parking is also redeemable because of my job!

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 33 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Ok, if anyone actually breaks their hand, take a picture and do this, cause it would be pretty funny if they make an X-ray that actually looks busted.

[–] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 hours ago

I broke a finger a bit over a year ago and it ended up swolen and purple for about a day. It was a reddish pink and only slightly swollen the following couple of days

[–] kernelle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I have an old xray from when I splintered my ulna (forarm). I'm torn, a part of me wants to see what happens, but a bigger part of me wants to never upload anything medical related to these platforms

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I think it probably would identify a break when you provide the x ray to it.

What I want to see is if you take a normal picture of a broken arm or hand or finger or whatever and ask it for an x ray, if it's fake x-ray image it gives you will show a broken bone.

So uh... something weird happened... I asked it to take an xray of my hand and it... returned this image...

Which is clearly wrong. It must be the reason why everyone says it generates low quality slop... right? Haha... ha...

User name does not check out.

Guys... I think this might be a Velociraptor's account.

[–] AbsolutelyNotAVelociraptor@piefed.social 29 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Don't be ridiculous, everybody knows ~~we~~ er... velociraptors went extinct 65 million years ago.

Nervous human-ish noises

[–] wols@lemmy.zip 13 points 12 hours ago

Clever girl

[–] Hobo@lemmy.world 24 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Had me worried until you made those nervous human noises. Really don't know why I was concerned.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 8 points 12 hours ago

Nervous human noises are the most calming and reassuring noises!

[–] khanh@lemmy.zip 10 points 15 hours ago

if he is to be trusted, then he's probably a lizard-man -> lizard-people are real -> zuck is a lizard-man confirmed

[–] painteddoggie@piefed.blahaj.zone 13 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Wait a minute.... are you a velociraptor?!?!

Preposterous! Of course I'm not! It says it in my username: AbsolutelyNOTaVelociraptor

[–] simbico@lemmy.zip 27 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Hello fellow human! I too enjoy the dexterity of opposable thumbs!

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 6 points 17 hours ago

Hmmm... That does sound like something a human would say, but the hairs on my neck are standing up. Maybe a thunderstorm is coming?

ChatGPT knows when it's being asked to identify a hotdog and doesn't get paid for that business

[–] squaresinger@lemmy.world 110 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Not exactly programmer but... The stupidity of some people is impressive.

[–] Redjard@reddthat.com 149 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

I mean this is gotta be obvious bait.

[–] rtxn@lemmy.world 66 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Blue check mark means the user already drank the kool-aid. No reason to assume they wouldn't go back for a refill.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 14 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

It's just as likely its an engagement farming account, maybe even a bot.

[–] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 13 hours ago

Tell me there's a difference

(Excepting the existential realization that the stupider a person is, the more easily they're used as a tool, of course, and keeping them in line and on track is often simpler than tech solutions.)

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 34 points 21 hours ago (5 children)

Nowadays it's hard to be sure. Considering the average American's education and who they voted for....twice... Why shan't I believe weird "news" like this...

[–] Dultas@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 hours ago

Sadly yes...pretty much :)

Jokes aside, as much as I hate AI slop this could actually be a freaking awesome use for pattern recognition that might actually improve healthcare.

But, I'm a US American so for us it costs a stupid amount of money to GET the X-Ray after waiting for an appointment, and then you play one-way phone tag waiting another month(s) for the analysis of the x-ray.

(Bonus points if you wait 6 months and pay $150-whatever for "I dunno looks fine to me.")

I dunno in a functioning society with a decent doctor:patient ratio (is there such a thing?) maybe this wouldn't be necessary, but over here for most things we're practically on our own anyway so the more DIY options the better.

Shout-out to urgent cares though. If you actually broke something they usually get you scanned and remedied pretty fast. I had a thoroughly good ouch-I-think-my-toe-broke (it did) experience with urgent care.

[–] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 10 points 13 hours ago

Yeah AI (not necessarily LLMs though) have been used to great effect for medical uses like that. It's a shame how most of the good work coming out of the AI/ML field gets overshadowed by LLMs

[–] unglueclass23@programming.dev 2 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Global problem probably.

Here in Eastern Europe if you have the money you go to private clinics and for the most part you will get the care you need but even in paid ones the good doctors have pretty long wait times. And you're paying ~100 eur for 1 consultation.

[–] cepelinas@sopuli.xyz 2 points 11 hours ago

What country? I got a lung xray the same week I was admitted into the hospital and it was all in a public and free hospital.

[–] 20cello@lemmy.world 58 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Wow I did the same 2 days ago and it's incredible how my hand xray is identical (not similar) to the one of the guy who posted this!1!

Won't post post mine for privacy reasons

[–] isles@infosec.pub 20 points 19 hours ago

Glad you found your bone brother

[–] kazerniel@piefed.world 79 points 22 hours ago (3 children)

I hope this is satire 👀

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 63 points 21 hours ago

Unfortunately a lot of satire turns to reality these days. The Onion has a lot of work keeping ahead of the craziness.

[–] muhyb@programming.dev 7 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

It's actually quite terrifying that we cannot say it's 100% satire.

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 6 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

An instance of Poe's law.

And in full disclosure, I had actually forgotten the name of that and had to look it up, which from an outside perspective might also look like an instance of it.

[–] Dultas@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

I always get that and Cunningham's mixed up. But the good news is it always looks like an intentional use of Cunningham's Law if I do.

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 14 points 18 hours ago

I always assume the person with the Super Mario World cartoon series avatar is joking in any situation. It saves a lot of stress.

[–] j5y7@sh.itjust.works 20 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

I can get similar results without the ethical fallout of using AI just by holding my hand up to the sun.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 18 hours ago

Scandinavians: 🫤

[–] nibbler@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 18 hours ago (5 children)

no you can't. you'll fail because you'll see actual traces of your bones. That's something completely different.

Hundreds of thousands for an x-ray? Just get GROK to do it. Can also do fake CT scans
