Sam Altman is lame for still breathing

[–] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 17 points 2 hours ago

He's basically saying he needs five more years of US tax payer subsidy before he can start turning a profit. LMFAO.

[–] DoubleDongle@lemmy.world 6 points 1 hour ago

I'd say I really don't want to hear these people's dumb bullshit and it's not worthy of attention, but the limelight seems to be significantly harming them, so send it.

At its best AI is a tool like every other tool that came before it. And I don't ever recall worshipping a fishing rod as much as it wants to drag me up to shore.

AI was cool 5 years ago. It's not anymore.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 12 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (1 children)

Was it?

Hummmm....

Yeah, I guess it was cool for a few months, then it quickly stopped being cool....

[–] compostgoblin@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 points 4 minutes ago* (last edited 3 minutes ago)

It was cool just long enough for the novelty to wear off and the facts of how it was developed, how environmentally destructive it is, and what it will be used for to come out

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 12 points 3 hours ago

Never ceases to amaze me just how checked out from reality these people are.

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 60 points 5 hours ago

The generation that can't find work and start their lives because of AI isn't cheerleading for AI. Huh.

Saying that a whole generation of people are lame and then having one of the lamest pictures in the history of humanity taken of yourself, ok

[–] datendefekt@feddit.org 43 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (2 children)

I read lamest picture and my mind immediately jumped here

[–] grte@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 hours ago

This one is basically impossible to top.

Didn't this guy rape his sister?

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 12 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

Honestly, that sounds like a shakedown to me. The case was thrown out, and the family has said she had a variety of mental health issues. She also made a tweet blaming Elon Musk for being homeless, which isn't a good look for her.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 4 points 12 minutes ago

Someone else posted on another thread a republican judge threw out case because she medically couldn't move and she wanted somewhere closer to her. They then claimed the below:

she refused to appear for an independent medical examination despite warnings that failure to do so would result in the case’s dismissal.

So in context sounds like they got him off on technicalities. I dont know much else so hopefully someone else fill more.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 2 points 5 minutes ago

and the family has said she had a variety of mental health issues

She was raped by her brother. Use your head.

Nothing screams disruptive innovation like a billionaire scolding young people for not being excited enough about the technology making entry level jobs disappear. Apparently Gen Z should stop chasing what was cool five years ago and start chasing whatever Sam Altman needs investors to believe is cool this quarter.

Historic elite psychopaths: "let them eat cake"

Late stage capitalism elite psychopaths: "The peasants should welcome our totalitarian dystopia, devoid of cake"

More like “the peasants have too many cords of wood at home, they should be forced to give them to us so they can rent the heat and we can have a monopoly on temperature control and baking. Also they can rent cake from us”

Bro you forgot to attribute the quote properly.

"What a piece of shit" - Altmans Mom, on behalf of the 99%

[–] BananaOnionJuice@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

What a loser, Sam may know how to speak to investors, but he don't know how to speak to people.

[–] LewdLemon@sh.itjust.works 9 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Oh, but Zuck, Thiel and Musk certainly do. Totally no awkwardness with these shining beacons of social competence!

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 32 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

If that were true, you could just wait 5 years, Sam. 🤷‍♂️

[–] brsrklf@jlai.lu 11 points 5 hours ago

The interviewer in the article had the same reaction I had to this sentence : today, gen AI is very close to be the "cool thing five years ago". Rejecting it is not rejecting the new thing anymore.

We've already seen how it does, we've been suffering its consequences, and we hate it.

I'm way before gen Z by the way. If you can't get young people on your side, maybe you're not the visionary you want to be, Sam.

[–] key95@lemmy.world 12 points 6 hours ago

Sam and truth are mutually exclusive
