Maybe because of how notable his absence is? Seeing rather than reading/hearing.
I didn't realize how attached people were
While not knowing him directly, they still have a profound influence on our memory and history. His Picard character channels the ideals many of us would like to fulfill for ourselves and humanity at large. A part of us has been cut off.
There's a few people I don't know who I've attached to pretty hard over my life. They are all either very old or very dead. But they all made their mark in who I am as a person.

His passing hit me like a ton of bricks. Brought me joy as a kid. Made me laugh with his crassness as a teen/young adult. Saw the goodness in him with his actions outside of media. Still hurts, just not as much with time.

Just to be clear, I did not make this. I don't want to take credit from whoever came up with this idea and followed through with creating it.
But no, I genuinely didn't plan to make a poignant message on a shitposting community. If I knew it would be interpreted as something other than silly nonsense, I would have posted it somewhere else. But seeing the upvotes/downvotes on this, I decided to leave it alone. Anyone can feel free to crosspost this to a more appropriate community, if they want.
I think it's appropriate here. This is one place where this meme lived, so feels appropriate
Maybe it because I hang out here amongst the trekkies most often but it really does seem like Sir Stewart's passing is hitting everyone especially hard
I've seen more about his passing all over the internet than any other celebrity death I can recall for a long time.
