Moving the Coast Guard from Fisheries to DND is a sneaky way to add $2.5 billion to the defense budget without actually spending more money...

I certainly agree that it's very questionable to have an explicitly regional party in the federal debates, but for clarity's sake, the criteria are 2/3 of the following:
-
having at least one sitting MP who's been elected as a member of that party
-
having at least four per cent national support in opinion polls
-
running candidates in at least 90 per cent of all ridings
After pulling the candidates, the Green Party only meets one of these criteria (the first).
As much as I agree that one doesn't "run for Prime Minister," and I wish everyone would stop using that phrasing...the party sure as shit should be running to form government.
This will probably be the only remotely positive thing I'll have to say about the CPC during this campaign, but good for them for taking out the trash.
And yeah, there's still a lot of trash left.
The leaders agreed to begin comprehensive negotiations about a new economic and security relationship immediately following the election. In the interim, the leaders agreed that conversations between the Minister of International Trade and Intergovernmental Affairs and President of the King’s Privy Council for Canada, Dominic LeBlanc, and the United States Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, will intensify to address immediate concerns.
That seems like a little much - there's plenty of foreign media that produces worthwhile content.

He's not Mr. Right...but he is Mr. Right Now.
Okay then, the next election will happen when the next election is called.
Let me know if I used any words that are too big for you.
The likely scenario is that, immediately upon Parliament resuming next month, the Liberals will immediately lose a confidence vote, triggering a snap election. The opposition parties have all stated that they will initiate a confidence vote at the earliest opportunity.
In the unlikely event that doesn't happen, I imagine JT would remain on as PM until the mandatory election this fall. Were he to step down, he would probably appoint a sitting MP as interim PM.
As a fun(?) aside, Canada has had two PMs who served while members of the (unelected) Senate, and MacKenzie King and John Turner both briefly governed without a ministerial seat.
No one is expecting Carney, or anyone else, to serve as an unelected PM.
If this ends up happening, it's important context to this decision.
If it ends up not happening...pretty weak shit.
