I'm really not sure why they don't just hire the contractors full time, since they're keeping them for years anyway. The staffing company is taking a cut, and that can't be that much cheaper than just giving regular benefits.

It probably works out via cruel economics to do it this way, somehow.

They just want their team to win, even if it means they personally suffer.

Some people just .. don't. If I had a magic wand I'd just send them off to their own private pocket planes, but alas.

The place I work (a multinational company but not one you've probably heard of) has been hiring almost exclusively "contractors" for a while.

They hire someone to be a software developer or qualify assurance engineer or whatever, but via a third party staffing company. Then that person acts exactly like a full time employee - goes to meetings, does work, reports to a boss - except they don't get the same benefits as full timers.

This seems like it shouldn't be legal, but most people are too worried about losing their job to push much about it.

It's just a tribal thing for a lot of people. They'd die personally if it means the out-group suffers more.

Conservatives tend to be some mix of stupid, cruel, and willfully ignorant. You have to be or the worldview falls apart.

They have poor media literacy and reasoning skills. If they were smart and empathetic, they probably wouldn't be hateful.

I really would like people to think more about that.

If you produce more valuable stuff and get paid the same, you're getting a bad deal. It's delusional to think the owners are going to pass those profits on to the workers in any meaningful way.

First, the security concerns here are massive.

Second, they really think we're stupid. That we're all so incompetent that we can't manage our finances or write an email without help. That really says a lot about CEOs and the other people pushing for this slop.

I use keepassxc. It does the job.

Go on. What's your point here? That saying "women like shopping" isn't an old sexist trope because some women do? Would you then say that {outgroup} are lazy because some are?
