politics
Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!
Rules:
- Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.
Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.
Example:

- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
That's all the rules!

lol same. im permabanned on reddit
At this point, its almost a negative sign of your true character if you haven't been banned by Reddit yet.
I left with the API fiasco before I got banned. Should I log back in for a ban?
I don't recommend it. Only bots and morons left over there.
Such a happy union. Bots love morons and morons love bots.
Just go on there a speak negatively about the pedophile and MAGA and you'll be silenced in no time, at the guise of something entirely different.
Or post on public freakout and just wish death on a person who's the asshole in the video
that was my first time leaving reddit. I left for just over a year, then I needed to find some local community for organizing so i came back, aaaand then i got banned for calling some racist a "white trash chud"
Holy crap. That's all it takes now? It used to require a believable threat, if memory serves. They're like this close to having FCC-style broadcast TV censorship.
I got banned for posting the meaningless letters ACAB
They banned me for expressing compassion
Can't have that. Next thing you know full-on empathy will break out.
Yep. I encountered some asshole saying Alex Pretti deserved to die because he was carrying a gun in the presence of law enforcement. I told him he wasn't just licking boots, he was deep throating them. That was "harassment," according to Reddit. And I was permabanned. I never got banned for anything my first 5 years or so on Reddit, but as soon as that fat orange fuck was elected, I started collecting temp bans every month. Makes you think...
sounds all too familiar. any thread I was in that was about trump or maga would get brigaded and every non-conformist commenter was temp banned.
Reminds me of the movie, Demolition Man. Republicans tried so hard to paint liberals and leftists as censorial authoritarians.
"Can I say that immigrants are poisoning the blood of America?"
"You betcha!"
"Can I say that people who worship unjust law enforcement are malicious sycophants?"
"No. That's harassment."
Sieg Heil, I guess?
This is a good point
It takes a desire to start away from Reddit - it's very easy to sign up again under another name. If you have Gmail (yes, I know - privacy - but it's fine for throwaway crap), all you have to do is add a plus sign & any gibberish you want to your email address.
username@gmail.com ...becomes... username+redditaccount0001@gmail.com
The stuff from the plus sign to the @ gets ignored by Gmail servers so it all gets sent to the first address still. Handy feature for a few oddball purposes since you can filter based upon it, although it's hit or miss whether any given site will accept such an address with a plus sign - last I knew, Reddit still did.
No, they are able to track you across multiple devices and locations now. I get instaban the moment I sign up anymore. I gave up. Joined shortly after digg migration my accounts gone
the ban is for the best though, the entire site is full of bots talking to bots. i'd rather poke around here where real humans are
Speak for yourself meat-sack

I'm not sure what they're doing but I tried to evade a ban by using a 10-minute email address and signing up through multiple VPNS. It still banned me each time so I'm guessing they must be harvesting MAC addresses
