  2. how painful is that? That seems like it would be painful and cause some weird nervous system reverberations through seemingly unrelated areas of the body.

  1. Yes.

  2. Not very, for a few reasons.

  • You are probably under anesthesia.

  • They are usually pretty small.

  • The nerve endings in your gut don't register pain like your skin and muscles do. It registers more as mild discomfort.

That's exactly what happens, but I'm not sure if it would be that painful. These things are generally pretty small, too, obviously.
