Me: "who are any of these people?"

[–] candyman337@piefed.ca 39 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (3 children)

Things they're best known for:

Dinesh from Silicon Valley

Raj from Big Bang Theory

Kumar from Harold and Kumar, and also the Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement during the Obama Administration

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 22 points 2 hours ago (3 children)

I would say that Kumail Nanjiani might also be well-known these days for being the guy who had a role in the Marvel flop "Eternals," and a subsequently hilarious press junket and social media tour.

And Kal Penn was also Dr. Kutner in "House MD," which was mostly notable because his character was suddenly and unceremoniously killed off so that Penn could go work for Obama.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 hour ago

I’ll always know him as Prismo

[–] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 hour ago

Kumail Nanjiani also had a role in the awful Kenobi series. Although of the three I think Kunal Nayyar is the one who had the least remarkable roles.

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 hour ago

Jesus, is that why they did that? That episode fucked me up

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 30 points 3 hours ago (4 children)

Don't forget Sarah Silverman, known for stand up comedy (?)

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 5 points 54 minutes ago* (last edited 54 minutes ago)

Also for the Bob's Burgers fans, Sarah her sister Laura play the twins Ollie and Andy Pesto, respectively.

[–] Spur4383@lemmy.world 9 points 2 hours ago

For the voice of glitchy in Wreck it Ralph

[–] DasFaultier@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

That's right. Also (among other things) for appearances in SNL.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 6 points 2 hours ago

She had a show and was on a bunch of celebrity roasts too

[–] Trashcan@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Kumar worked in the white house? An actor got that jobb??

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

You'll never guess what Tom Morello studied at uni

[–] BunScientist@lemmy.zip 31 points 4 hours ago (8 children)

The second guy was in the big bang theory and the third guy was in Dr. House, idk who the first guy is

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 60 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Sir or madam the third one is Kumar, he went to White Castle long before he applied to Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital

[–] homes@piefed.world 39 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

And then left that show to join the Obama administration. Seriously.

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 11 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (2 children)

I was sure this was a troll when it happened, but no, it was real. Does anyone know if he did a good job?

[–] homes@piefed.world 11 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

As I recall, he was a perfectly competent staff member. I think he worked on the speechwriting team? It was a while ago, now, so I don’t remember most of the details.

Iirc, he only worked in the first Obama administration, and then returned to Hollywood. Apparently, having a perfectly normal job for four years was enough.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 6 points 2 hours ago

I believe Obama tweeted about it when he left and that he did

[–] varden@lemmy.world 43 points 3 hours ago (6 children)

Kumail Nanjiani is a comedian and actor. He was in Silicon Valley and more recently he got shredded for Marvel's Eternals. He's pretty funny.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I almost read that name as "Kathy Najimy" (the actress from Sister Act and Hocus Pocus) just now.

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 2 points 46 minutes ago (1 children)

Don't forget she's also Peggy from King of the Hill!

[–] nightofmichelinstars@sopuli.xyz 2 points 39 minutes ago

And Rat Race, and The Scream Team, a Disney channel original movie where she, Tommy Davidson, and Eric Idle play sassy ghosts who collaborate with living children.

[–] Telodzrum@lemmy.world 20 points 3 hours ago

He was also just on the most recent season of Taskmaster. Pretty funny guy.

[–] Apepollo11@lemmy.world 10 points 2 hours ago

He's also in the Fallout TV series and the Obi Wan Kenobi series

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

He was also in an episode of Community for the final paintball episode.

[–] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 hour ago

Deputy Custodian Lapari, he's in at least one episode in season 5, Analysis of Cork-Based Networking, the paintball episode is season 6, Modern Espionage.

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

So sad he got jacked for that movie, but at least he remained jacked.

[–] ltxrtquq@lemmy.ml 15 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

he got shredded for Marvel’s Eternals

Without your comment for context, I thought he was being blamed for how bad/mediocre Eternals was

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 hours ago

This is also what i thought the comment meant

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

That's funny, honestly his section with his manager was the best part of the movie. "He tried to kill me in me sleep!" "I thought he was a vampire!"

[–] reminiscensdeus@eviltoast.org 13 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Silicon Valley & Adventure Time are his best roles imo but he’s pretty prolific

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

“Optimal Tip-to-Tip Efficiency” I do know one of these guys!

[–] Crostro@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

He played, or voiced more accurately, prismo in adventure time. He's also a stand up comedian

[–] AmyAye@nord.pub 3 points 3 hours ago

First guy was the entertaining member of The ~~Immortals~~ ~~Incredibles~~ Eternals. That memorable Marvel bunch.

[–] rImITywR@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

The first guy was a contestant on Taskmaster

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Same here, I don't watch TV so I'm clueless.

I do know who Sarah is, my favorite role of hers was in The Way of the Gun and she gets decked.

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I liked her most in Star Trek, easy to get a crush on that character

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Didn't know she was on star trek, I'll have to review the historical records.

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.today 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

That scene is so classic, I had to give away my copy of the dvd because it is just so realistic in it's violence. One time I had to just stop watching it half way through and I don't think I can ever watch it again

Great movie but maybe just too real

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Escalation of violence is key and this movie personifies it. Its a sad reality but thats how it is... (Done a ton of military training on this)
