Here, too, the sheer ridiculousness of the regime once again obscures its criminal intentions.

Statements such as these are then completely ignored:

We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement, just common sense, maximum lethality and authority for warfighters.

Pete Hegseth Source

This obviously means that all moral conventions, humanitarian principles, and international agreements are being thrown overboard—in other words, absolute ruthlessness, Israel-style.

This is the face of America today: a grotesque grimace of fascist malice.

This open statement that we're no longer concerned with adhering to Geneva Convention standards should have made these military leaders sick.

The contradiction that we're going to simultaneously hold all personnel to higher standards of grooming, fitness, etc while removing the obligation to adhere to any semblance of legal authority makes it crystal clear that cruelty is the point of all of this.

Don't worry, since many of the Geneva Conventions were in response to Canadian Military actions at war, if the orange turd sends troops for his 51st state bullshit, we'll come up with a whole new list of things for Geneva to add to the convention and his cronies can get some first hand experience on why those rules exist.

We're nice neighbours and allies, but don't become our enemy.

I think about half of the US wouldn't mind if you got a little pre-emptive with that

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 1 points 14 hours ago

Well, if they did, they wouldn't talk about it. I think they'll just say Soory afterward.

[–] PlaidBaron@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago

Ive already got some war crimes planned just in case. Keep those dog tags on, boys. Theyre gonna need it to identify your remains.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 1 points 14 hours ago

Step 1. Inform the 22me that they no longer have regulations except for Geneva.

Step 2. Look away and prepare the medical support for the enemy wounded.

I mean that pretty much sums up MAGA and Trump's administration. "We're going to hold the groups of people we don't like to an impossible standard while the people we do like are immune to any consequences." Cause it's pretty obvious that Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump have no respect for soldiers other than their usefulness as pawns.

[–] oppy1984@lemdro.id 10 points 17 hours ago

Geneva convention rules protect our troops just as much as they protect our enemy's troops. Openly suggesting that we disregard those rules actively puts our troops in danger.

I know they haven't actually said we are disregarding the rules, as of yet, but they certainly are hinting that's what they want. Other countries will take note, and issue orders accordingly.

Jesus Christ that’s grim and inhuman shit. “Stupid rules of engagement”?? Stupid things like reducing civilian casualties and not turning the populace against you? This is how empires fall.

For Hegseth, he’s horny to prove how tough he actually is since he has a chip on his shoulder after being outed as a “dangerous insider” before Sleepy Joe’s inauguration.

For Trump, he just wants to burn America down since we ruined his special secret time with little children by taking down Epstein and his feeble, ancient brain only knows narcissistic revenge. He doesn’t give a shit as long as we are as hurt as he was having his favorite thing taken away from him.

Notice how it’s not just “the worst people for the job”, it’s always “people with a chip on their shoulder about America”. It’s always the moronic shitbag crazies who can’t ever be wrong even when they clearly are, and now they’d fucking legislating it. They’re codifying “I say that I’m right and fuck you” into policy.

They want the kingdom all for themselves to manifest their false reality, and they’ll burn it all down if they don’t get their way.

It's working so well for Israel, everyone loves them now.

Hey Pete I’m an enemy of your country and I might even be plotting to take out JD Vance.

Come at me you fucking sausage. I’m going to bring Jihad against the whole of America. 😂

Where's Fitz when you need him?

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 2 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

And how in any sane way does he think any of that is 'common sense'?
