What's this mystery meat business? I've seen it multiple times this week.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 71 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (3 children)

Drumpf importing 300,000 tons of meat material from an undisclosed source with the promise to sell at 25% below domestic beef pricing.

Oh so not only is it of super questionable quality, he's ALSO screwing over American farmers. Love it

I'm just waiting for the cattle farmer interviews to roll in on the news.

"I voted for him twice, and I would vote for him again, but he's really making it hard for us out here. At this rate I'll have to sell the ranch, which has been in the family for five generations."

No need to wait, just google. The US Cattlemen's Association, the NCBA and every other ranching group is completely losing their shit. Articles already published for ya.

Looks like I'm late to the party!

All of that delectable FAFO snark, and then the AI generated logo at the end. Bleh.

I have a sneaky suspicion it's from Argentina, known for their meat markets. Or that's what I remember from watching those food travel shows in the past.

So you know how people keep complaining about grocery prices?

Well it finally got to Trump so he made a deal with an unknown person for a bunch of diseased cattle because fuck you and your health

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 26 points 3 days ago (1 children)

To be fair, it might not be diseased, it might just be slathered in a highly toxic, carcinogenic antibiotic banned in most countries, including the US.

Argentina has been trying, and failing, to foist that shit off on a bunch of countries lately.

[–] gdog05@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

It might be diseased, might be horse meat, might be concentration camp prisoners. At this point, we can't fucking know and likely can barely imagine. We are in the end game now. They've captured or wasted our water, taken our power, disrupted our communication technology, sowed distrust in our food supply and will use Round-Up to destroy much of what's left of that, made their crimes legal and have made our voting ability dubious at best. The last stage I can think of is nullifying our currency and we can see them strongly trying to make that happen right now. We still have a very small chance to fix this without massive bloodshed but no matter what, it's going to be a hard road ahead.

$10 days we find out someday that that’s where all the wild horses they’ve been “selling to loving homes” have ended up
