Funny, cause my reaction to this post wasn't that this rehabilitated W, rather that Trump is so bad that he makes a shitty president look better. Still not good

It is very similar to how the Iranian dictatorship was looking like the adults in the room. I mean how the fuck are you so terrible that Iran, looks reasonable by comparison.
I mean Iran is usually reasonable in its foreign policy. The regime is fucking evil don't get me wrong, but that usually manifests more in their domestic policy (their support for Assad being a notable exception) instead. Which is to say: In a conflict between Iran and America/Israel, you can usually bet on Iran being the more reasonable side, at least partially because they're not strong enough to be as blatantly evil as America outside their borders.
