I will 1000% defect to Canada ~~if~~ when this kicks off.
If a war kicked off, you wouldn't want to be in Canada. Canada would lose within days. Then it would become a guerrilla war. 100% chance if that happened that Trump would institute collective punishment, killing 1000 Canadians for every American killed by guerrillas.
The most helpful think Americans could do is stay in the US and fight from within. In fact, why wait for the Canada phase to start? Why not actually do something now?
You won't be able to get to Canada when the war starts. If you cared, you would go now.
Fuck off with that shit. You have no family, no career responsibilities, and no community connections. Otherwise, you wouldn't be sounding off like a middle-schooler. You would be offering advice, links to immigration services, or at the very least, be encouraging, iF yOu CaReD.
I'm not posting bullshit online about how I'm going to switch to the Canadian side when the war starts.
Oh no Americans! Downvote me harder. Put me in my little Canadian place for pointing out that you're all liars and Trump is a natural product of your culture.
It's all my fault that you can't stand up to daddy trump because I didn't do the work for you to figure out how you could help.
I'm not going to be encouraging Americans to continue to spout off more sad lies. Do something or shut up about it. You're all full of hot air and weak as heck.
You say all that like there's no Alberta.
Most of us rational Canadians old enough to remember a more civilized version of Alberta, even ones born there, know that present-day Alberta really just needs to have it's face held underwater until the bubbles stop.
The war doesn't need to be fought only on Canadian soil even if occupied. An insurgency on American soil is way easier and makes it too costly to maintain and will force the occupation to end.
We should just let it happen? I'm pretty sure Trump already suggested that.
My bad. I forgot to add the word only. I fixed it. My point is that in addition to an insurgency on Canadian soil by Canadians, there would also be an insurgency on American soil by people there from around the world. If Canada isn't safe, no one else is.
The US would find not just Americans, but people from around the world living in the US would find ways to join the insurgency.
All comments like these do is make people even more apathetic, or even actively negative against your perspective. With that attitude and obvious complete lack of an attempt to consider differing perspectives or think of situations where people cannot just uprooted their entire lives in a day. Because you clearly think your assumptions of everyone's situations are accurate and inalienable the same way those that support Trump believe he's right.
Since you clearly are willfully trying not to consider alternate perspectives, based on your other responses in this and similar threads, I hope you're first in the front. If you were the only casualty I'll be 100% confident that society across the board would be a better place based on your comments here. The same way that disbanding ICE, or removing Trump from office, would be a net positive across the board.
I am responding to someone who said they will 1000% percent defect to Canada, that person is lying. If they are not willing to make personal sacrifice now, they won't be willing later either.
That's fun that you wish death upon me. You've really shown that you are the bigger person here.
Still doesn't change the fact that Americans who say they will help later, are full of shit and and will never make personal sacrifices to help others.
Always love the Canadians that don't see the exact same stuff taking form in their own backyard. You're just a decade or two away at this rate. I haven't seen any attempts to shift away despite having Trump and US Republicans to show you the next steps ahead on your trajectory.
Ah yes more generalizations with no basis for them other than your feelings. You're no different than US Republicans there. Feelings and talking down to foreigners are the most important things to spend your time on.
Thank you captain centrist. You're words warmed me with the hotness of their air.
I'd personally love to, but my wife is disabled, we've got 3 children with varying degrees of developmental disability requiring me as a round the clock caregiver, and we live off my wife's disability benefit and other government assistance here. No shot we get in.
Only way we're getting into "Canada" is if y'all annex the Buffalo-Niagara region lmao.
Well you probably will be coming whether you like it or not as part of a meat wave assault to be be left behind to grow flowers in our fields. Watch how far doing nothing because it is too hard gets you.
Ah yes, because it's definitely the person in poverty whose every waking moment is spent taking care of disabled family members that didn't do enough to stop the fascist regime.
Trump will probably put their disabled family members in a camp or launch them out of a canon so yea.
Complete non-sequitur, that threat doesn't just magically give someone more time or resources to "just fight harder 4head" with. If someone has family that literally can't take care of themselves without them, what happens to that family when that caregiver gets illegally arrested or killed trying to "just fight harder"
Blaming the most vulnerable people for not "fighting harder" is like blaming someone bound to a wheelchair for not being able to stand up on their own.
I'm not blaming them, but their loved one is going to get launched out of a canon. It's up to them what they do or don't do about that is up to them.
aka telling the person sitting in a wheelchair that if they don't stand up then they'll die.
Sure, maybe that person just has very weak legs and can stand and walk very short distances. Maybe if they really had to, then they could stand up. But that person also might actually just be paraplegic and just can't use their legs at all and you're just telling them they're going to die. There's no way for you as an outside observer to know just by seeing the wheelchair.
That's what I'm saying. What "resistance" am I supposed to mount as a caregiver that spends all day caring for 3 developmentally disabled kids and a wife with a brain tumor that can randomly with at most maybe 30 minutes of warning can go into an atypical seizure where she thinks she's 7 for several hours? How "hard" do I have to fight before it's "enough" for you? Is there any amount of "fighting" I could have engaged in that you wouldn't still be blaming me for not doing enough?
(ETA: I should add that 30 minutes of warning she can't recognize in herself. This is warning that I have as her caregiver to prepare for her to "time travel" within her own mind for at best it to just be a bad headache with some confusion and at worst have her possibly think I'm a kidnapper and child predator.)
Aww is the poor baby hurt by reality?
