The Minnesota political assassinations were less than 3 months ago.

These fuckers are just freaked out that the people they encourage their followers to shoot may be starting to shoot back.

We didn't know who shot Kirk. The last few attempts on Republicans were also conducted by Republicans.

Maga was spreading the news that the shooter was a liberal within minutes. The vast majority will believe that they're under attack by liberals despite any news or facts to the contrary. Anything else will be viewed as another conspiracy.

Reality is not a place where Maga and Fox News live.

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 25 points 1 year ago

I'm aware they'll lie about. Just saying we shouldn't boost that narrative. Not while no one knows who did this

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 20 points 1 year ago

The shooter could be a live long Republican with the parents, spouse, and kids all being Republicans. They could have the dog trained to attack minorities and they could be someone that was very publicly vocal about every and all Republican talking points.

But they'd find a single photo where they are wearing a blue shirt and say they've secretly been a Democrat all their life.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Even if it turns out to be a liberal, that'd make what, 1 in 10 shooters being on the left? 1 in 100? It's clearly a lefty gun epidemic. If only Republicans could read... Also, no one will ever be caught for this one. That way they can speculate to high heaven and never be wrong.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

If it doesn't matter if the shooter is conservative, it doesn't matter if the shooter is progressive.

We need to stop making things matter when they don't. Who cares what the shooter was. They never do.

Gracias. Multitasking is hard.

It's probably a disgruntled MAGAt, although the fact that they are still at large probably means they are too smart to have been a MAGAt.

Then again, if it were a white male with a red hat they probably could have slipped in and out pretty easily. Has anyone done the math on how far the shot was?

[–] spaghettiwestern@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

IMO it doesn't matter who it is any more than it matters that vaccines are safe, Magats will make up their own story. 20 years of social media saying the guy's a hard right nutcase will just be considered a liberal conspiracy.

"Hey! You guys are supposed to be the ones against guns! You're not allowed to shoot US!"

We keep telling them that they aren't the only ones with guns, but they don't believe it. And I'll bet we're more competent with them as well.
