Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

... it’s just going to be, I mean, they’ll find a reason to impeach me.

Bitch, you are the encyclopedia britannica of reasons for a president to be impeached.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 82 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

I bet you could make a kids book, A thru Z, on all the different reasons he should be impeached.

“F” is for friends who do stuff togeth… oh, wait, no, it says here it’s actually for “Firebombing humanitarian zones.” …

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 27 points 2 weeks ago

E is for Epstein

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I thought F had to do with kids?

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Nope, F in this context requires consent, that one goes under “R”

If "Impeached" was a TV series, he's the Box Set.

And he wouldn't be removed, just like both times before. Why does he care?

Wow fake news much!? He said he WON'T say "they" should cancel it. Then he repeated himself 5 or 6 times to make sure everyone got it. Even though he thinks "they" should cancel it, it's not something he would say.

Just so we're all on the same page. ~/s~

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 34 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Thats shockingly close to his actual language. Start at 1775 seconds in

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 57 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Yep, he plays and twists positions he's clearly promoting by prefacing with "how those crazy reporters would react" and it works. The media gulps it down, every time. Just look how every mainstream outlet is sanewashing this specific event.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 25 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

It's a self-eating snake now man.

The media is going to keep on keeping it up because Trump means ratings, and ratings mean money.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago

The media is going to keep on keeping it up because it's all owned by fascist billionaires who are on Trump's side.

[–] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

It's not just the ratings. They'd get plenty of ratings showing trump being arrested, on trial, going to jail, crying on camera, dying horribly; and same for all his conspirators.
The billionaires are the ones who benifit from trump, and they own the media.

This fucking idiot is just rambling about an autopen for a few minutes without a hint of irony that he himself is an autopen because his dementia riddled head doesn't think. He literally said "now I just sign em all because it's crazy". It's like 4 separate layers of irony.

What a fucking world.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

Media should start asking this question to everyone in this fucking administration:

"Will the Epstein Files be released before or after the midterms elections are cancelled?"

"They’ll find a reason to impeach me."

Like bc of all the crimes? I used to be about non-violence but it really does seem like the answer in specific cases.

Guys, not sure if everyone gets it yet, so for those who need to catch up: There will not be any midterms. At least nothing meaningful, if they're held at all. The right is gaslighting and the left is in denial. The right don't want elections...they can only reduce their power.

David Frum said it best: “If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.”. He's right, and he would know.

I won’t say cancel the election, they should cancel the election because the fake news will say ‘he wants the elections canceled. He’s a dictator.’ They always call me a dictator

Yes, exactly, because you want to cancel elections you fat Cheeto fuck

You want people to stop calling you a dictator? QUIT

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 54 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

“Stuns?” This bitch was telegraphing this angle since day 1.

This and the Greenland really need to be taken seriously. He just kidnapped a world leader and his wife(?).

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 37 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Can something really be considered "jaw dropping" when anyone with 2 brain cells has assumed he was going to attempt something like this since he literally said on stage over a year ago, you won't ever have to vote again?

At this point, I would say it would be "jaw dropping" for him to just follow the rule of law.

We all know his goal is to destroy the U.S. (as well as any part of the globe they can seize) and the entire system of government on behalf of his handlers and their corporate interests, right? Surely by now, nobody could still believe that maybe this guy is just exceptionally bad at his job...

The entire point is to burn it all to the ground, and from there rebuild it in their own image. Realistically, who knows wtf will actually be rebuilt if anything, because if/when it all does finally come crumbling down, they will turn on each other to determine who will seize power and use their hoarded resources to force us to fight each other in a civil war(s) on their behalf.

Anyway, tldr, sorry to be that person, but this isn't "jaw dropping."

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 35 points 2 weeks ago

You should already have been impeached you rapist criminal pedophile. You should be in prison waiting for the firing squad.

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 28 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe he shouldn't have committed so many impeachable offenses. Too late for that.

[–] BeautifulMind@lemmy.world 26 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Anybody even the littlest bit surprised that he would say this sort of thing hasn't been paying attention. Not a stunner at all.

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

Being shocked by something obvious to everyone else is the American superpower.

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's not a nuclear option because it's not even an option.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

Trump owns the agencies, the national guard, the military and supreme court. All these parts of the power structure have been conditioned to do as he says. And we've already seen how he uses them illegally, even openly with ICE.
Trump doesn't give a shit about the law, he will make some insane excuse and call martial law.
Trump has not been seriously resisted yet, how can you claim that Trump or Vance taking power is not an option?

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago (9 children)

Well for one thing, elections are held by the states.

I will burn shit. No taxation without representation. Taking away my representation (no matter how much of a shitty sycophant my representative is) is the same as taking way my duties as a citizen to follow the law. If I still have to go to work, then the fucking country is running well enough to have an election.

[–] HotsauceHurricane@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago

Stuns?

Stuns whom, exactly?

Van we stop with the bullshit clickbait headers already?

Trump surprises as he floats nuclear option

Would have been a much better, more normal, headline

I could then say: surprise?

Surprise who, exactly?

Nobody is surprised by this, less so stunned. This is expected.

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Someone needs a war to cancel elections. Central america posturing makes sense.

[–] overthere@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

We don’t cancel elections in the US. Even for war. A full-scale invasion of the mainland might be enough to try it, but some piddling foreign “special military operation” isn’t going to cut it.

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yes but that's based on precedent. The current administration gives zero fucks about precedent or logic or anything else. Any convenient excuse will work for them.

How has the world not figured out how this fucker operates. This is a clear and definite signal that he will At least try. He’ll get away with it because this is how he operates, he jokes to test the water, next up he’ll start making them a little more forceful, but then it will become how they need to cancel the elections, eventually he’ll pull the trigger and blame something else in an overnight shock.

It’s coming, has been written in stone, now he’s pouring blood into the incantation.

Dictator Cheeto Chimp... has a nice ring to it, right?

Fuck no!

He needs to die, one way or another.

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 weeks ago

Oh it’s an option? Ok.

Hard No.

[–] ButtermilkBiscuit@feddit.nl 8 points 2 weeks ago

"They" should cancel this fat pedophile.
