Here is his Globe remarks:

"This is for Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered. We're in the middle of a war with Venezuela that we illegally invaded. He's telling the world that international law doesn't matter to him. The only thing that matters to him is his own morality, but the guy is a convicted felon; a convicted rapist.

"He's a pedophile," Ruffalo continued. "He's the worst human being. If we're relying on this guy's morality for the most powerful country in the world, then we're all in a lot of trouble.

"So this is for her," Ruffalo concluded. "This is for the people in the United States who are terrorized and scared today. I know I'm one of them. I love this country. And what I'm seeing here happening is not America."

convicted rapist.

Isn't saying this publicly the thing that got George Stephanopoulos sued? Not that he's substantially wrong in saying this, but "right" and "wrong" aren't exactly things that influence Trump's decision-making.

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 38 points 1 week ago

Stephanopoulos wasn't "reporting" when he said that, though; it was during an interview with a guest on the show. I'm not sure that's a significant difference.

Ruffalo also has the money to go to court and have it out about the definitions of the words adjudicated, alleged, confirmed, convicted etc.

I know if I was the orange child rapist I wouldn't want to go to court to discuss those different definitions because at some point I'd have to admit that I was in fact an adjudicated rapist.
Then again I'm not a mushy brained narcissistic dictator so...

Plus of course it's technically correct. Trump has not been convicted of rape, but he has been convicted of other crimes and he is a rapist. So he is indeed a convicted rapist.

The proper thing to say would be 'adjudicated rapist'

[–] wakko@lemmy.world 31 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (6 children)

Put whatever qualifiers you want on it. A rapist is a rapist. It's a factual statement and, therefore, is not slander or libelous.

And ABC should have fought it in court, and they would have won, but they voluntarily gave up the bribe Trump was demanding.

Later, Kimmel forced them to grow a spine and fight back, and MAGA backed down. Kimmel knows how to handle bullies.

What's done is done, in all seriousness 🤷

"It's hard to pretend anymore," is a strong statement given his profession.

Who REDACTED Ruffalos' nipples?

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

Your mock it, but that redaction saved thousands of lives. Most of us can't handle that sort of beauty.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 1 week ago

If you'd ever seen them, you'd understand.

Ruffalo's got balls while other celebs are too afraid of speaking out and being accused as "woke".

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 40 points 1 week ago

Mark Ruffalo being interviewed by Zeteo:

[–] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’m glad some actors are speaking up, but holy shit it’s taking most of them forever. It’s been a fucking year and you already knew who he was …

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 8 points 1 week ago

You never know when you neef a pardon from the pedophile

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 30 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What's up with the title? What is it we can't escape? The rise of fascism?

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I think it's saying you can't escape Twitter posts being reposted everywhere.

Like this utterly valueless reply from @vincedmonroy, when we could have just had a quote of Marc Ruffalo's statement from the Oscars, which other commenters have posted.

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That first bit is written really oddly: states some terrible stuff and then says "as much as I love all this" lol

[–] Darohan@lemmy.zip 109 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It feels like the "this" in question is likely the golden globe awards, where he was being interviewed.

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 32 points 1 week ago

My guess is there was an accompanying gesture to serve as an antecedent

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago

Yeah considering everything he said I'm sure it was, it just reads kinda funny.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago

he's saying "This country sucks ass, you host a good party tho"

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago

I liked Ruffalo before I knew how he felt about 'politics'. I like him even more now.

A friend sent me a reddit post with this vid, and I immediately regretted reading the comments

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

We know for a fact ICE is contracting workers to monitor the Internet and social media including Reddit.

When I read stupid shit like that, I assume it's most likely paid ICE contractors and/or state fusion centers doing what they get paid to do (promote the administration, stir shit up, monitor people, and try to get people to incriminate themselves). On the off chance it's a legitimate idiot, then you can at least take a little comfort in knowing that even though we're all being fucked over, the idiot still supporting them is being double fucked by paying taxes and willingly providing free labor to the state to promote their own exploitation.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Never thought much about him, now I'm a fan. Being a moral American should be rewarded these days.

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He was great in Shutter Island.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 7 points 1 week ago (4 children)

He's been great in more things than I can count, but I never look for him. I never say "Look, a new Ruffalo movie, let's check it out," the way I do for DiCaprio or Gyllenhall, or a few others.

I'll be changing that somewhat in the future. I probably won't watch it just because of him, but being in the cast will definitely make me look on the film more favorably.

Isn't these print screens from the nazi-pedophile platform X? People who find it normal to use such platform are the reason why fascism is becoming a reality on the streets as well.

I totally see him as a Pedro Pascal v2.0.

[–] Poteau_Poutre@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He is the OG Pedro Pascal.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 week ago

I think you're right. Pedro's explosion to fame came after Mark's. Both had a similarly long and slow start to their careers beforehand. Both also seem fairly down to earth everyman types
