It's like their ugliness went from inside to outside.

It's like most science fiction revolving around this particular topic. The ostentatious need to show off this sort of perverse wrecking of somebody's skin and face is meant to signal something. This is a modern version of being fat to show that you have wealth.

It's meant to show that you have the disposable income to become whatever version of beautiful Trump wants. In this case it's seeking out Eastern European features one faces that otherwise wouldn't house them.

And why everything looks like a goddamn clown mask. They've gone too far too fast and with too much modification. Welcome to repo the genetic opera or so many other stories.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mar-a-Lago_face

Writing for Mother Jones, Inae Oh calls Mar-a-Lago face "gender-affirming care the right can celebrate".[7]

they're against someone else using surgery to affirm themselves, but then they need surgery to affirm themselves

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 40 points 1 week ago

That’s how republicans do

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago

Well, tbf demonstrating that the rules don't apply to the in-group is part of fascism. It's kinda funny that they're this committed to the bit though, they look like absolute freakish ghouls now and will never be the same.

[–] Greddan@feddit.org 99 points 1 week ago (10 children)

Controversial opinion maybe, but I consider most cosmetic surgery a clear sign of mental illness.

[–] Zozano@aussie.zone 77 points 1 week ago (12 children)

I mean, you're probably not wrong, but also a lot of cosmetic surgery is due to toxic cultural expectations, most of it landing on women.

Not to imply that ghouls can't be women, but it's nice to see politicians openly supporting Fallout (season 2).

Is it just me, or was every single one of these women more attractive before surgery?

[–] modus@lemmy.world 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Surgery? I thought these were PSAs for severe allergic reactions.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

Lol, nah they did this willingly. For some reason.

Those are some brave women. I would shit my pants each morning if I would see a monster like this in the mirror.

For maga, plastic surgery is virtue signaling. Since they have the money to spend on “looking their best” they do so in the most visible way since money is morality to these fucks.

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 41 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Doesn't "have the money" for plastic surgery imply good surgery? All these people look like they got TEMU lips and Great Value noses.

[–] onnekas@sopuli.xyz 42 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You're silly. "Good plastic surgery" is the kind of surgery that makes you more 'pretty' without people noticing that it's actually fake. How are people supposed to notice that you got the money for plastic surgery if the surgery is so good that people wouldn't notice?

I think I figured out part of why the word "ghoulish" kept coming to mind.

When the face is full of filler, the eyes become sunken in.

Just like a ghoul from fallout.

And then they all have small noses. And these too will sink in.

So ghoul.

The thing is, it's almost impossible to have that filler removed. Plus it has stretched the skin. So removing it would make their face look like how the skin looks in an area of extreme weight loss. That's kinda whatever on people who have lost weight/had babies , It is what it is.

But This will really mess up the face. It's not natural.

The alternative is to keep adding more filler until the face is 5x thicker and the eyes are so far sunk behind bags of filled flesh that they look black and demonic.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Plus the filler is absorbed by the body, but at different rates. So in a few years it's gonna be irregular and lumpy. Some people go to the extreme length of having glass microbeads mixed with the filler (this is illegal in the US) but those migrate around within the tissue. Once you start this shit, it's just a constant Death Becomes Her maintenance operation to keep it from looking worse.

Or as they say in Ab Fab, "pretty soon you're a just visitor in your own face."

Loomer looks more like a drag queen than most drag artists.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 40 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Recently saw a video from an ex-maga, ex-mormon woman who speaks about these people and it was specifically about this face. she said they look like that because they're doing drag. i see it. it's performative gender expression.

[–] Donkter@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (4 children)

What interests me is that I've never once heard an actual explanation. "They're doing drag" might be true in an analytical sense from an outside perspective. But it's not the reason they do it.

One would assume the reason you start is because you're encouraged to get some Botox and subtle touch-ups are a very beauty trend among women. But they all end up with very similar features and it's always overdone. So there must be common pushes and pulls. I would just like to hear it in their own words what has led them to this.

Nah, I’m not going to judge women based on their looks. Many women get facial work done, they’re not scum like these.

They’re pieces of shit inside, that’s what’s important.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Ok, no need for a high horse. It's not their looks being judged, it's their choices. And it's not cosmetic surgery itself, it's this cosmetic surgery. Mar-A-Lago Face, the shellfish allergy look.

I will continue to judge the shit out of anyone, man or woman, who gets cosmetic surgery to appeal to MAGA.

If you want to get work done to "fix" something a feature that bothers you, that's fine. But if you get work done to secure a better job in the Trump administration, it's open season on your swollen, ugly face

The exaggerated features almost remind me of stage makeup. Stage makeup isn't meant to look good close up or under normal lighting, but is meant to be viewed from the back of the theater and under bright lights from above.

There may be a core of this group that was originally styling, using cosmetics, and undergoing treatment with the goal to look a certain way from a distance in photos and on video (but not necessarily up close and in person). From there, the acolytes followed the styles not realizing why they were chosen.

Man how do so mamy have horrifying lips? I'm generally against body shaming but lip and cheek surgeries make people look like straight up aliens.

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 34 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'm ok with body shaming as long as the thing being shamed is something that they intentionally did to themselves.

Body shaming is about things that cannot be controlled.

They actively chose this. Shame away.

They rather look like aliens than look old. That’s a sign of mental illness.

We shouldn’t discriminate: both maga men and women have distorted views of their own appearance. Has to do with their psychology, I guess.
