Seriously, the US needs their system to be remade and restructured from the ground up. So many things were never regulated and simply not done out of tradition. But Trump breaking with every tradition has now opened pandoras box and showed to any future bad actor with how much you can get away. It's somewhat surprising that it took 250 years for someone to break the system like this, but it most certainly won't take another 250 years to repeat now that Trump has set the precedent, unless the system itself fundamentally changes

I mean, I’m ok with t still prosecuting them even if it doesn’t collapse the system.

We can do that separate if we have to.

[–] EndOfLine@lemmy.world 119 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Did Pam Bondi just admit that the American system is controlled by, or at least dependant on, pedophiles, rapists, and human / sex traffickers?

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 59 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Yes.

The thing is if it was true that prosecuting individuals would cause issues (it isn't true at all) then it pretty much proves that the system is fundamentally broken and needs to change asap.
If any one person can say "hey, I think I'll murder that baby over there because I can get away with it...Haha, I'm needed too much, haha. No one will do anything to stop me." then we all may as well just go back to doing sacrifices at altars.

That disgusting bitch is being wildly dramatic, because if we were to get all the paedos in the tRUMP-Epstein files and guillotine them tomorrow nothing much will collapse.
Nothing.
Yeah, ok, there will be some blips whilst those power vacuums are filled. No collapse though.

When the fat kiddie fiddler dies (or before, please) then her and enablers like her deserve justice. Prison if you want, but something more painful and permanent is also acceptable.

I struggle to think of an appropriate "punishment" for such people, because I don't have the wisdom and vision to see how they can be rehabilitated and reintegrated into society. How can they be? So reluctantly I find myself thinking of capital punishment - how else to make safe a democracy from its most powerful avowed enemies?

I think this is probably the one and only time I could get behind slave labor, since it’s explicitly allowed in exactly this way (absolutely should not be, but maybe the rich wouldn’t support that anymore if they saw this happen, and we could get rid of it). Keeping them alive on the public dime with no hope for them being rehabilitated isn’t a great option, but I’m not a fan of death penalty either. That’s too easy.

I say we put them to work on projects to support marginalized communities, especially shit jobs nobody else wants to do. No pay, no perks, just labor in service of the public they wronged. Maybe have them cleaning chemically-damaged sites so they can be used for something good. That sounds good since they directly profit from pollution now.

Quietly move them from place to place so they can’t stay in contact with other powerful people, and maybe that would do it.

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 1 points 5 days ago

This is why I recuse myself from it, I can't think of a verdict that's entirely focused on rehabilitation instead of vengeance, but I do believe that any justice system worth submitting to should only be concerned with interventions that treat the disease and the symptom without prejudice. If someone is totally against that idea of society, don't you just destroy them as humanely as possible?

Éleuthère Irénée du Pont was very nearly executed during the reign of terror. It ended and his life was spared, only for him to go on to found one of America's most deadly family legacies and one of, if not the most wealthy and influential American family currently. Pity and clemency are noble virtues, but it is sometimes difficult to bear their erstwhile mistakes.

Too criminal to fail?

[–] unmagical@lemmy.ml 51 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Pretty sure if everyone in the Epstein files was shot I'd still have a job, a boss, bills, hunger, thirst, neighbors, etc.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah but what if the rent seekers weren't able to seek more rent anymore? Imagine the societal collapse if everyday people had expendable income.

Does anyone remember "drain the swamp"? Anyone with half a brain knew it was a joke, but it's amazing how they don't even pretend to be the good guys. It's endless comic book levels of villainy.

If the "system" is so deeply and widelly riddled with pedophiles that prosecuting every one in just the found files of just a single criminal pedophile ring would "collapse the system" then the "system" is nothing more than a criminal enterprise which deserves to be collapsed.

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 42 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well if our system of paedophiles leading the country is going to be upended...

Hey, here's an idea: Lets not participate in a system that is led by paedophiles. Let us, in fact, burn it to the ground with all the paedophiles still inside.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 12 points 1 week ago (11 children)

General Strike. International. We can start out smaller and part time, work up to big ones, the more the government gets rough trying to force us back, the more and longer we walk off jobs and stay off of them until demands are met.

Create Unions of Unions that cover everyone, regardless of where they work, to bargain. Leaderless perhaps. We have leaders but they aren't even known whom they are. Leaders by virtue of their own character, for the unions, to prevent persecution. Maybe just spitballing on that part.

The general strike, spread worldwide, to China, to SE Asia, to Europe. We could take some real power back from these leaders using technology to prostrate us before them and fix elections.

If prosecuting everyone in the files causes the collapse of the system, that kinda implies the system is bad and needs collapse.

[–] agingelderly@lemmy.world 37 points 1 week ago

By system she probably means Republicans but who cares, take them all out no matter who

These are vital load-bearing pedophiles.

[–] oftenawake@lemmy.dbzer0.com 34 points 1 week ago
[–] notsure@fedia.io 34 points 1 week ago

...then collapse the system, duh...

[–] Alaknar@sopuli.xyz 32 points 1 week ago

I'm already sold on the concept, you don't need to advertise it even more, Pam!

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 32 points 1 week ago

You DONT Understand! The world is RUN by RICH PEDOPHILES RAPING CHILDREN and if we STOP that the WHOLE system Collapses!

-NOT QAnon Anymore for some Reason!

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 32 points 1 week ago

If prosecuting pedophiles takes down "the system" then the system must be taken down.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Throw it on the ground!

I ain't part of your system!

If that’s what’s keeping the system supported, then it deserves to collapse.

The system obviously needs to crash if the whole entire fucking government, AS A WHOLE, were all cool with pedophilia for multiple multiple fucking years! This means both Democrats AND Republicans have had ample chances to stop this tragedy, but DID NOT.

Disgusting shit.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

…collapse their system.

The one that keeps them richer and more powerful than everyone else. The rest of us will be fine.

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Okay, you don't want to prosecute everybody in the files because it will collapse the system, so how about a cut-off? Just prosecute the ones who are mentioned above a certain number of times. Like, if your name is mentioned more than a few hundred times, you can get a full-time FBI agent assigned to you.

And if, God forbid, there's somebody in there who is mentioned over a million times, you get a dedicated team of dozens of agents, special prosecutors, and forensic experts who will work non-stop until you're serving a life sentence.

That seems like a reasonable starting point, right? Better than just throwing your hands up in the air and doing nothing.

A system where the most powerful man on earth is a pedophile should indeed collapse

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (10 children)

People on the right don't think logically. It's always just us vs them. If they do gerrymandering its good, if the dems do it its bad. They have no morals, they just know sides. Also they like to engage in virtue signalling. "Freedom!" and all that. They mean freedom for themselves, not for all people. I hate how so many people try to get that gatcha moment with them. Its so easy to do and they could not care less. Guess lefties just like patting themselves on the back after pointing out the right's non existent logic time and time again. You are just the most recent addition to the circle jerk.

I'm kind of convinced that most of those people online were foreign agitators and/or bot nets.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 15 points 1 week ago

We're always hearing that as an excuse for the government to not do the hard work of governing, and it has brought us to this.

Every society has a swath of psychopaths chomping at the bit to get off the leash and cause chaos and mayhem. A healthy society recognizes this and keeps that ugly slice of humanity under control. But now and then, a country gets distracted, and that ugly slice of humanity grabs their opportunity and takes over. In the mid-20th century it was the Nazis. Today, in America, it's MAGA.

Nothing is better proof of how broken America is than the fact that we allowed MAGA to rise, and take over. We all saw it coming back in 2015/6, and even Republicans were screaming against it. They should have held their ground, but as the final example of how far our nation has fallen, they decided to join instead.

Now we have to dislodge them, which will be a difficult, and probably violent job, and then we have to make the hard decisions to punish them for their crimes. We can no longer kick the can down the road for someone else to deal with, we are the ones who finally have to deal with it now. We are in unprecedented territory, and it will take unprecedented solutions. We can't just fall back on our old strategies of doing NOTHING, and hope it works out. It won't work out, we are living proof of that.

[–] orioler25@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I mean, yes I want to dismantle capitalism but this actually signals that they will weaponize the intentional destruction of public safety to protect their own. They all know the system isnt functional for its purported purpose to the people anyway, that's how they use it.

It could drain the swamp, you mean? That's too bad, let's not do that. Nobody ran their campaign on doing that.

Then it's a bad system that needs to collapse.

[–] KaChilde@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 week ago

The system that exists solely to protect pedophiles and rapists? The system that lets these vile cunts prosper while the rest of us toil and suffer?

I think I could be okay with watching that collapse.

Isn't upending the establishment what Trump was originally voted in for?

[–] saimen@feddit.org 11 points 1 week ago

Sounds like a system-problem and not a me-problem.

[–] beejboytyson@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

I love how they claim the system can't survive without pedofiles. 100 percent all those people are expendable. Just like the kids they raped.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

This bitch is over here threatening us all with a good time.

[–] fossilesque@mander.xyz 10 points 1 week ago

I hope that's a promise. May it's ashes feed a thousand new worlds.
