How did she adjust to her newfound powers?

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 26 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sharks kill around 6 people per year, moose kill 10-15 per year just in Canada

It's mostly from people driving cars and hitting a moose though.

So I ran into a moose for the first time in my life on my hike just now, and all I could think of was the earlier comment. Scared me more than it should have.

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

It's not that they're mean, it's just that their go to is to trample. And ho boy can they trample!

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

No, I think “very” is the appropriate amount of scared for being this close to a moose. They’ll fuck you up.

[–] toiletobserver@lemmy.world 26 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Moose can also dive! That means there's a non zero chance you will be killed by a moose while scuba diving.

[–] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca 21 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Which is why one of the few animals that is a predator of the moose is the orca.

And Greenland sharks

Kevin Smith has been teasing a moose movie based on jaws for 20 years.

[–] Cascio@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I came here to make this comment and I'm even happier than someone did it before me.

[–] its_kim_love@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Tusk is probably the closest we're getting. God that movie is surreal.

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They're in the same universe, Moose Jaws is the third in the trilogy.

[–] its_kim_love@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's been 20 years and they just delayed it again so Smith could get the rights to Dogma back so he can make Dogma 2. If it's coming I've given up waiting.

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I mean, it's only been 12 years since Tusk came out, and they got funding in 2022 from Lions Gate for that and four other movies. At least according to Wikipedia.

I think the big factor is Depp, and if his involvement is delying production.

[–] its_kim_love@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago

20 years was a little exaggeration, but the idea has been around since 2009.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago (2 children)

A moose confronted me in the woods one day, he was very angry and only the stout trees kept me alive.

They don't look that intimidating from a distance, but up close they are MASSIVE and the bulls can be aggressive. Seven feet tall at shoulders at least!

I've read that they are fantastic swimmers, and even feed underwater.

[–] JayDee@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

One of mooses' natural predators are orcas.

[–] HaraldvonBlauzahn@feddit.org 5 points 2 months ago

I’ve read that they are fantastic swimmers

They are, they swim in the open sea.
