Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

Sen. Mitch McConnell has been hospitalized for an undisclosed medical issue, according to a spokesperson.

The 84-year-old was admitted to a hospital Sunday morning and “is receiving excellent care,” his office said.

It wasn’t immediately made public why he was taken to the hospital.

McConnell has suffered a series of health issues in recent years and was hospitalized for eight days in February for flu-like symptoms.

Imagine if he were doing literally any other job. How ridiculous it would be for him not to have retired yet

[–] it_depends_man@lemmy.world 60 points 1 week ago (7 children)

I don't even really understand why people like that cling to power the way they do.

They're literally dying on the job. Don't they want to retire? Spend their money a bit?

They're not even a dictator where everyone and their mother will come after the scraps of the kingdom when they show weakness.

[–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 62 points 1 week ago (1 children)

These people are basically retired. Their primary activity is fundraising, which is talking to the same few hundred people for the last 30 years. Helping constituents is handled by the office, so are policy decisions. They actually work for a few days a quarter, and the perks more than compensate for it.

[–] Pixel_Jock_17@piefed.ca 11 points 1 week ago

This right here. When work isn't actual work and you just go for meals and social outing's or golf days its better than retirement

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago

It’s not just a job anymore, it’s their entire identity. We all work with people like this at some point. The job is all they are, they have nothing else outside of that. Add the control fetish so many of them have and they cannot leave.

[–] Astronut@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 week ago

Hell, I retired at 55 so I could enjoy the rest of my life and I’m just upper white trash!

People need protection from this. Mandatory agree limits for all public functions.

[–] grimpy@lemmy.myserv.one 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

no federal office holders over the age of 75? (65?)

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

65 retirement age. Mandatory for everybody.

[–] UncleArthur@lemmy.world 62 points 1 week ago

Just fucking die already.

[–] TootTootComingThru@lemmy.world 38 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not gonna sugar coat it. Hope he dies terrified and in pain.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

If he even knows where he is. There’s an incredibly high chance he’ll just space out again as his brain fails to connect to the rest of his body.

Someone start the water boiling. It’s time to start prepping the turtle soup!

I hope the mortician can find out why. Fingers crossed.

[–] jaschen306@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"It wasn't immediately made public why he was taken to the hospital."

Oh, maybe because he fucking 84 and shouldn't represent Americans. Dude was alive when we dropped the atomic bomb during world war 2.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Has been a senator for as long as I've been alive.

It'd be nice if people would start reminding him that once he kicks the bucket, he's heading somewhere very hot and unpleasant. And we love that for him.

And if religion is wrong, then he's going to the void of endless nothing and he is going to be remembered for being a PoS waste of oxygen who protects pedophiles.

[–] KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org 20 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Apparently his upper respiratory system was compromised by a shit blockage. The doctor explained "kissing trump's ass for almost ten years without restraint has caused a fecal buildup that has not only blocked his nasal passages but has filled his veins with shit dust. As you know the heart has a hard time pumping shit dust instead of blood".

Imagine if we had TWO big beautiful days back to back.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Health tip for everyone:

Drink more water.

No. Not because it's good for you. But because in the next few years, there's going to be an awful lot of graves coming up to be pissing on.

[–] FreeAZ@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 week ago

Nah, I'll just eat a lot of spicy food the day of.

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

I don't need constant health updates on this motherfucker. Just tell me when he's dead. Or if something hilarious that's going to make him suffer incredibly for the rest of his life happens.

[–] audaxdreik@pawb.social 12 points 1 week ago

So many of these ancient ghouls will die before they ever see any justice. All we can do is record their awful deeds and make sure their names are remembered in history as abhorrent.

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Unfortunately we won't get that lucky.

Tortoises live for centuries.

He’s running out of time and he’s not a tortoise, plus comparing Mitch McConnell to innocent tortoises is a insult to tortoises

[–] DrMartinu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 week ago

Whatever it is, I hope it's painful and lasts a long time.

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The worst part about him being sick is you know as soon as he kicks the bucket they'll find someone even worse to replace him.

The second worse part is our taxes are paying for his top quality health care while he helped 1. Make sure they pay little to no taxes and 2. Helped push the narrative that taxpayer funded health care is wrong

[–] Danarchy@lemmy.nz 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

He opened the his car window and was nearly pummeled to death by his own wattle, saved u a klik

Hopefully for the final time

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Hope your death is only as painful as you deserve, Mitch - You were a vicious cancer on the world that we nay never recover from, and all because you got caught having sex with a guy in the military.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago

I just hope it's excruciatingly painful for him.

[–] Exatron@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Shouldn't voters get a say on his treatment?

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

One less vote.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 week ago

Too bad this didn't happen 30 years ago

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

A normal person would just retire.

[–] Inucune@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Mitch the lich.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Don’t give up, hospitalized, you can do it.

[–] droniecarp@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago

Just let us know when he's dead, thanks.

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

You're leaving too late you fucking malignant turtle.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 4 points 1 week ago

Let me know when we have a funeral date.

[–] CannedYeet@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I'm finally getting the hang of this voodoo shit

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 4 points 1 week ago
