Last year a goth femboy friend of mine went on a river float trip.

He wore two layers of shirts, fishnets, and baggy black pants. With striped socks of course.
And then wore the dripping outfit to dinner after.

I had a similar experience, but ours only wore swim shorts and nearly died of hypothermia. I had to swim his tube to a random dock so he could warm up.
I always assumed that goth swimwear was one of those striped one piece outfits you see in old-timey images of people at the beach in like the 1910s. With a parasol.
Pffft, an umbrella and net stockings will work pretty well for both arms and legs in summer. And they also make goth boots in non-thigh-high variants.

Sometimes I think my Hot Topic emo fit is rough and then I go to ren faire and see a goth in 10x as many layers or someone in a full fursuit and I cannot fathom the dedication.
Goth Night at the Kadan, in the early 2000s, was kick ass! Best part was that Kadan was a dive bar, in the kinda-sketch-not-yet-gentrified neighborhood of Normal Heights, the rest of the week. But for that one night the freaks and bats came out to get hammered! It’s some lame mustachioed hipster cocktail bar now. The whole hood turned into a hipster trainwreck.
Anyway, Goths were good fun! And yes, summer in San Diego posed a complexion problem! 🤣
