Big thank you to the Twitter user in the screenshot who captioned the caption verbatim, how else would we know?

There are people who can't see

Which to expand on, this is useful for people that use software that read text out loud. The software can read what the user typed out, not a caption from a screenshot.

I don't think that's why the user posted it like that, but accidental accessibility is nice

I wonder what they're talking about

"I thought that you were an infant."
"No, err, that is just my name."
"...oh. Do you know any infants? How old are they?"
"No, I, no. Yes I do, but not here. I know my family, in my country. But I know no infants here."
"I've got a plane. I can travel. How old are they?"
"I, err, so about that election rigging?"
"Don't try to distract me. HOW OLD ARE THE INFANTS?!!"

Gianni Infantino is carefully explaining to Donald Trump that he is not part of the Spanish national team.

Right, but what's happening in the attached picture? Who are these men and what are they discussing?

[–] WhiteOakBayou@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Soccer. They are world leaders. One is president of the United States of America and the other is president of FIFA. A world leader in corruption and soccer.

But their vocalizations, what is the meaning behind them?

Gianni is a they, the -i ending is for plurals, obviousli.

I do a little bit wonder whether The Guardian means that Infantino is explaining to Trump that Infantino is not a member of the spanish national team ("I am not..."), or if he is explaining to Trump that Trump is not a member of the spanish national team ("you are not...").

Either way is ridiculous and a solid joke, to be clear. Infantino is 56 and Swiss-Italian, and surely even Trump's few remaining neurons would have remembered having the physical ability to run just a few hours prior.

You think too highly of trump

He never misses a chance to crow about awesome things he thinks he's done. If he did something as truly awesome as winning a world cup, it would leave an impression on the tapioca pudding for at least a little while.

I feel like the caption explains it pretty well without adding the same thing above it...

[–] tomiant@piefed.world 2 points 1 day ago

I try to keep the original when I lift it from somewhere else because it's not mine...

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is Gianni Infantino carefully explaining to Donald Trump that he is not part of the Spanish national team in this photo?

[–] tomiant@piefed.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I hate it as much as you do, but when I steal memes I don't fuck with them. Maybe I should.

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

No, I think you did the right thing (inasmuch as there's a right or wrong thing here). I'm making fun of the person who originally added the redundant caption.

Bro thinks he's on the team 🤣
