To be a sitting congressman and flying another countries flag outside your congressional office should embarass every republican.

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 115 points 4 days ago (3 children)

His voters fly confederate flags.

(I know he's from Ohio, I'm not the one confused, they are)

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 40 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

They identify as losers.

No shame or hate to the trans community. I'm using their (the losers) snide tone back at them.

I love the qualifier as if it isn't all the catgirls I know still making anitque attack helicopters jokes to mock chuds in this year of our Lord 2026

The only correct C.H.U.D.

Not really a slur in a traditional sense, but I get your point.

Other reply covered the origin, but as for contemporary usage:

From a random AI slop blog I found

Who is labeled a “Chud”?

While the definition can be fluid depending on who is tweeting, the label is most commonly slapped onto individuals perceived as:

  • Alt-Right or Far-Right: Those holding extreme nationalist or reactionary views.
  • “Reactionaries”: People who actively oppose social progress or hold traditionalist views that the speaker finds repugnant.
  • The “Anti-Intellectual”: Someone who is viewed as confident in their ignorance, refusing to engage with facts or nuance.

I could have just said bigots instead but whatevs

It's shocking how many confederate flags there are in what was such a pro-union state

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 13 points 4 days ago

Yeah, like Ohio boasts about having most per capita soldiers of an union state, or someone along those lines. Yet here are their great great grandkids pissing on that legacy.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

It's not shocking, they're flying it to show they are racist, it has nothing to do with "heritage", that's just a flimsy excuse.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 16 points 4 days ago

They aren't confused either. It's a sign of racism, not heritage, and always has been.

There's this wonderful British expression for people who go on and on about how much they love the flag of their their country:

"Flag shaggers".

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I would also accept flag fuckers, vexillophiles, and pole patrioteers.

[–] bigbangdangler@reddthat.com 26 points 4 days ago

It's virtue signalling. You can tell because they also constantly bitch about virtue signalling.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 25 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Bit ironic to strip the timestamp but leave the "readers context"...

I know the pacing is off the last couple seasons, but I swear I've seen this same screenshot for years by now.

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 15 points 4 days ago

I wish it was mandatory to post a date with all tweets or posts in this format. Was it today? Last year? I don't care enough to check.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I don't use Xhitter, but I think Musk had them remove timestamps a year or so ago.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Just nevermind. Republicans get to accuse us of everything they do. The public nods and agrees. Democrats are forced to resign of they mispronounce "nuclear."

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 12 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I cannot remember a single Republican president in my lifetime who COULD pronounce nuclear properly.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 4 days ago

Because they can't spell. It's what happens when you spent your entire school career beating up nerds to force them to do all your homework. You end up virtuosically incompetent.

[–] SPRUNTnsfw@fedinsfw.app 2 points 4 days ago

Democrats have standards beyond mutual hate.

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

He flys the flag of his boss.

Currently a rider in the NDAA would create a permanent military partnership between US and Israel. As it stands we have a temporary MOU. But now that the US association with Israel in unpopular with voters, our AIPAC owned officials want to be more clandestine in their obedience to their shadowy masters.

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

I thought the USA was their puppet state?

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 days ago

If you're being informal, I suppose one could use the expression "puppet", but the technically correct expression for what the United States is for Israel is "vassal state"

The right really seems determined to ban any flag other than their own approved list, huh.

Reform UK (far right party) wants to ban public buildings from flying anything other than the Union Jack, apparently to stop flags like 🏳️‍🌈 or 🏳️‍⚧️ being flown during Pride Month, but I'm 100% sure that will go down like a lead balloon outside of England.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 4 days ago

Jim Jordan is such a piece of shit.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Wait I thought we didn't vote democrat because the republicans don't support the genocide in Palestine?

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago

This is too much sarcasm and negatives for me to understand.

Unfortunately Jesus was the wrong flavor Jew who preached against letting money dictate your actions, and as that was interfering with the business of the establishment jews he had to go.

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Bethlehem seems to fall within the West Bank, but google maps may be wrong.

So was Jesus from Palestine?

Would explain things.

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

This guy sounds like he's still trying to beat Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? but sometimes learns from it.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

No such thing as an American flag

[–] enbee@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 4 days ago (12 children)

False, there are several. Canada, US, Mexico, Brazil, etc are all American countries. So flying a Chilean flag is flying an American flag.
