I mean, you can make it one, or you can just ride them.

I know a guy, bikes everywhere, constantly talks about biking, forces it into every conversation, has to wear those weird spandex pants everywhere, it's his whole personality and he makes it very political.

I know another guy, bikes to work because he doesn't have a car, wears normal clothes, doesn't make it his entire personality, only mentions it when it's relevant, not political for him it is simply born out of necessity (now that you can get him political on, but that's economics not "bikes.")

I love biking, I wear regular clothes and don't make it my entire personality. I will however talk about it incessantly if a person is into it and I recognize that it is a very political subject when it comes to propagandizing dickholes into fighting to remove bike lanes putting me and my fellow cyclists' lives in danger. But I wear regular clothes and don't take it too seriously.

Everything is political and bicycles even more than average. You're riding a tool of feminist liberation and protecting the environment.

I'd rather a few people be annoyed at my rants in 2026 than a lot of people die from my lack of rants in 2126. If you want systemic change, then it helps to demonstrate that it's feasible.

"Not everything is political!" - self-absorbed asshole that makes everything political.

Many such cases

Policy that has worked and been effective and loved by the people: We need to revisit this policy to see if we can make money out of it.

Fuck, even in my european country, there are many people hating on bycycles. Not even the bike lanes, just the fact of a person riding a bicycle.

Fucking awful how dividing the propaganda has gotten.

fucks sake, the DOT is removing bike lanes from national maps. Fuck

Guess bike manufacturers can't outlobby the car industry. 🤷‍♂️😔

I'm out of the loop, what happened? I just dropped 2k on a bike 😑

The dumbest of the world decided to be dumb enough to genuinely attempt to string together the phrase “DEI bike lanes”.

Their last brain cell is gone, and they chose to remove it.

DOT cranks up its campaign to strip bike lane references from federal websites

This article covers it. The DOT has directed 100 % of funding into cars and is deleting anything from their website that includes the word 'bike', evena lot of safety related things and tools.

Everything is political. Always has been, always will be. What changes is whether we notice and care.

And what statement would that be? My bike is my primary method of transport and it's great.

I don't even know how much petrol costs because it doesn't matter. Fully electrified my house within a few months of buying it too.

Cycling to work for me is faster than any other legal method of transport.

I'd like to hear about your illegal options.

2kW ebike, tbh I would be interested in 250w with the speed limit removed but we can't have that here and I already cycle at around their motors speed limit anyway so an ebike seems kinda pointless. There closest to a hill is the bridge over an old railway.
