Really donald. Mr president. You want generals who are more like the ones who lost. you want losers? If the shoe fits, I guess.

i wonder how many Germans felt similar to howni feel, which is that the crimes against humanity are injurious but the incompetence is just insulting.

Like its bad enough that our civil rights are being taken out from under us, the death camps are horrifying, and the political malpractice is infuriating. But the fact that we're all letting people who are this stupid do all these things inflicts a level of psychic damage I can't properly articulate.

He's not wrong. I think we'd all love to see trump put a round or two into his own head, trapped like a rat in a bunker.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 3 hours ago

Hmm... Pumpkins are orange and have no intelligence...

Trump is also orange and has no intelligence...

Is Trump just a big pumpkin? 🤔

I wish we had those guys too, they turned on Hitler

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Quick someone figure out what the tables in the white house are made of

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 60 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

What contrast? The topic is bloated, brainless orange things.

[–] Elgenzay@lemmy.ml 12 points 5 hours ago

That should be thrown out in November

“Get me dudes like those guys that lost THE war”

[–] TallonMetroid@lemmy.world 30 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Maybe he's more enamored with the whole "too incompetent to successfully assassinate him" part.

[–] KeithD@lemmy.nz 11 points 8 hours ago

And the rest of us can anticipate the "but still tried" part.

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 19 points 9 hours ago

Western media did a lot of nazi propaganda, from portraying them as more competent, disciplined, and technologically advanced than the allies to the "clean wehrmacht" to asiatic hordes myths.

Its not shocking that the dipshit-in-chief would buy into it.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 7 points 9 hours ago

The last world war or just the last war?

The dude who lost the last war was HIM.

The dude who lost wars before him was Dubya.

Would you prefer French generals? And didn't the British go to war over Polish independence, hard to say they won really. My choice would be that Russian hero, General Winter.

I'm going to bitch about the winter beating back the German.

The German had to stop their offensive in part because of winter, as the logistic network was too long and overcapacity to effectively bring winter gear up to the front.

But that's only part of it, the issue. The biggest issue is, the German army was just out of steam by December 1941. They had been fighting nearly non stop since March, 1st in Yugoslavia and Greece and then in the USSR with very little time to recover. The fighting in the USSR had been very costly in men, and the drive itself had left the tanks and trucks running ragged. The Germans needed to use the winter to bring up fresh troops, equipment and munition for large scale offensive in spring 1942.

Also there is probably something to be say about diminishing the achievement of Soviet Generals like Konev and Zhukov but I am too sleepy to finish my comment.

Love that it's in the "Health" category.

[–] mult@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 hours ago

Incompetent and methed up?

[–] 5ha99y@lemmus.org 30 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Pumpkins can vary significantly in size, but giant pumpkins typically weigh from 68 kilograms (150 lb) to over 910 kilograms (2,010 lb), with some record-breaking specimens reaching weights of over 1,278.8 kg (2,819.3 lb).

What a liar!

[–] decolo@piefed.social 23 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

But is that a real biological limit, or can we create an even more nightmarish monstrosity??

[–] CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 17 points 9 hours ago (3 children)

I wonder what growing the pumpkin in a space station would do, the fruit wouldn't have to be able to support its own weight at that point

[–] Steve@startrek.website 1 points 4 hours ago

Or floating in a pool

[–] Keilik@lemmy.world 9 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

With these massive pumpkins (I live in farm country and we need hobbies too) the single plant takes up pretty much the whole field, and more problematically, drinks somewhere around 200 gallons of water a day once they get big. So it’s more a logistics problem really.

If I could ever justify throwing a couple grand (I can’t and won’t) I’d love to try growing one hydroponically with a swimming pool as a reservoir.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 6 points 5 hours ago

1700 pounds and the green is all part of the same plant that supports the pumpkin:

[–] 5ha99y@lemmus.org 1 points 5 hours ago

So we actually do not know, if we include exotic conditionsXD But doesn't that count for many fruits?

[–] starik@lemmy.today 8 points 8 hours ago

We’re going to need a bigger space station.

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 2 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

How big are they in volume?

A ton of water is just one cubic meter, so I suppose it's still not big enough to make a jack-o'lantern house.

(Which just so happens to be my only interest in large pumpkins)

[–] icelimit@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Iirc it's also alot of empty space inside.

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 1 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

So maybe it's possible to grow a pumpkin large enough for a horse carriage and nobody has done it yet?

[–] icelimit@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 hours ago
[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 hours ago

Unlikely to get a carriage, as I believe the nature of their flesh would collapse. Thye do however get big enough for a 1 person chariot.

[–] prex@aussie.zone 10 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Well, he does like to pump kin.

[–] Emi@ani.social 4 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

That got me thinking, could pumpkins get even bigger in low G? If for instance there were sheltered greenhouse on the moon once we have colonies there.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 hours ago

Grow one so big you could live in a pumpkin shell like Peter the Pumpkin Eater's wife!

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 5 points 7 hours ago

So social media has been feeding me shorts of a woman who grows giant vegetables. To compete they can't break and there are a bunch of spots where if they grow too fast they get thin and split under their own weight.
