Granted, that wasnt generative AI, just regular AI.
What I think is more funny is how the anti AI crowd will get pissed when AI is used for generative art because they want to protect artists livelihood, but say nothing when AI is used to write code. Like they're fine with AI so long as there are less software engineering jobs as a result of it lol

"AI" is a very broad term. You have to be very specific when talking about it.
The models that crunch biochemistry problems are not related to LLMs and image generation. Just because you're against one doesn't mean you have to be against the other.
Heck, I'm not against LLMs as a technology, I just hate the LLM business side with the fury of thousand suns. I don't have problems with scientific research which happens to use "AI". (But I do have concerns about research incorporating AI, if it leads to unreproducible results.)
I don't know how many people in this comment section realize that they actually did use AI to develop a treatment process for skin cancer. This isn't some "well maybe someday" bs. There is a treatment method that passed human trials and is available.
There's huge ethical, moral, and legal problems with AI, but we actually did make a cure for cancer one that didn't involve just burning it out of your body and hoping it doesn't kill you. This is huge.
