Take small mason jars, fill them with vanilla pudding, and stick mayo labels on them. That way the kids can walk around eating fistfuls of "mayo"

Order a mayonnaise costume online.

Make Mayo ice cream.

Or make a chocolate Mayo cake

Also, if you can afford it, arrange a week in Minnesota full of fun mayo-themed activities culminating in some invasive surgery at the Mayo Clinic.

I found Jello brand white chocolate pudding has the perfect slightly off-white tone to match mayonnaise. I filled an empty mayonnaise jar with it and started eating from it with a spoon while some friends were over. The trick to really selling it was buying a pressure sensitive cap liner to reseal the top so I had to peel it open like a fresh bottle.

The reactions were 100% worth the trouble.

Look at the dutch 🇳🇱 we add mayo to everything;

  • bitterballen (meatball with breadcrumbs deep fried) with mayo
  • Sushi with mayo
  • Spicy spring Rolls with mayo
  • Hotdogs with mayo
  • Deepfried cod battered with mayo

Mayonnaise is mostly eggs and fat.If You add flour to that, You have cake. Problem solved.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 21 hours ago

Everything should be off-white or have pictures of eggs and cooking oil. All the food has mayo in it or on it. Instead of a traditional cake, you make one of those disgusting 1950s savory gelatin dishes with mayo as the frosting. Added bonus: A kiddie pool filled to the brim with mayonnaise for the kids to play in.

Mayo is a mother sauce and many others can be created from it.

Tuna-mayo onigiri. surumeika with mayo-based dipping sauce. fried potatoes with mayo (throw in some paprika or something if desired). deep fried squid and octopus actually goes well with the same. Demonstrate a pull-through mayo vs making another one. Science it up by doing two hand-made ones where one uses a copper bowl. Use mayo to coat things you're grilling (bread and thing cabbage wedges work well for this).

I'm sure I can come up with more.

That's gonna give the kid a cum inflation to death kink, reconsider your suggestion, I beg of you

Whoa there, this is a children's birthday party, not a bachelorette party.

[–] A_be_seedy@beehaw.org 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Party game: Get an industrial sized vat of mayo and hide trinkets in it. Kids get to stick their hand in and pull prize out.

Probably only like $35 bucks.

Decor

Mayo labels. Could easily modify a Hellman's label to say Happy Birthday.

Activities

Friendship bracelets made by upcycling mayo packets

Make your own mayo bar, each kid gets an egg. Then just set up different acids on the table (vinegar, lemon juice, pickle juice, etc). Kids throw all that in a jar and then parent immersion blends the jar. Kids can also decorate a label and slap that shit on

Food

Mayo bases dips

Mayo fountain with sliders, fries, and other things that mayo tastes good on

Goody bags

Mayo packets. The MYOM from the MYOM bar.

I'm sorry, what the fuck is the challenge in this birthday party? Is mom fucking allergic to mayo?

[–] slothrop@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

mom fucking allergic to mayo

I'll try it as a lube next time to find out.

[–] A_be_seedy@beehaw.org 1 points 1 day ago

Oh you motherfucker

[–] Malgas@beehaw.org 2 points 1 day ago

There are cake recipes that call for mayo, too, so even that can be on-theme. Using it in the frosting is probably also possible, though I've never heard of doing so.

[–] caesaravgvstvs@feddit.org 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There's a lot of helpful ideas here, but I think the problem is that the child broke her spirit

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

That's the real party

[–] SailorFuzz@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

it's okay to tell kids no sometimes...

[–] Obituarykidney@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You can also just have some fun doing something stupid and low stakes that will make for fond memories for your child.

[–] SailorFuzz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Its equally important for parents to set personal limits. Both for themselves and to teach kids that other people have limits, and that other people dont exist to entertain their every whimsy.

The "low stakes" youre thinking of might be someone else's last straw.

[–] Obituarykidney@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

If a silly theme for your child's birthday once or year is the last straw, you probably shouldn't have kids. Obviously say no if they're asking for dumb shit every single day, but it's a birthday party and the kid is clearly just having fun. I'd probably still talk to my parents if they actually ever tried to have fun with me when I was young.

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 16 points 1 day ago

Or give them exactly what they request and let the disappointment become a life lesson.
