Latest outburst comes as his push to rebrand the emerging technology increasingly falls flat

Donald Trump on Thursday opened up a new front in his ongoing war against commonly used terms and geographic names by warning that anyone referring to Large Language Models such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Anthropic’s Claude as “Artificial Intelligence” would earn themselves a place on his enemies list.

Writing on Truth Social, he declared that the White House “considers anyone that uses the term, ‘Artificial Intelligence,’ as opposed to the highly accepted new and more accurate term, ‘Super Intelligence,’ THE ENEMY!”

The president’s outburst-cum-veiled threat landed just over a week after he signed an executive order directing executive branch agencies to begin referring to artificial intelligence, which is now embedded across the federal government, as “super intelligence” following a lunch with leaders in the AI industry, including Elon Musk, Sundar Pichai, Dario Amodei and others.

Loyalty test. If you don’t use their language you don’t support them.

History tells us this is common with these types of regimes.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 1 points 7 minutes ago

He raped children.

[–] i_am_not_a_robot@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 38 minutes ago

How can people trust AI from a company that renames its product to such a stupid name because the senile president of the United States throws a tantrum about it? What else is that company doing at the request of the US government?

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 2 points 29 minutes ago (1 children)

I’m pretty sure he runs on artificial intelligence. Probably a beta version.

[–] terranoid@lemmy.cafe 2 points 26 minutes ago

It's all computer

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 2 points 33 minutes ago* (last edited 32 minutes ago)

That idiot shouldn’t be allowed within 20 feet of the word “intelligence”.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 2 points 40 minutes ago

Super Slop.

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 24 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Stop trying to make super intelligence happen.

It's not going to happen.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 hours ago

It's a computer. It's ones and zeros following a program. It will NEVER have intelligence.

It is technically Artificial Stupidity. There is NO I.Q there.

[–] passenger@sopuli.xyz 1 points 40 minutes ago

Super idiocy

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 42 minutes ago

This fucking guy.

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 hour ago

Uh-huh. I don’t see Grok, Anthropic or OpenAI scrambling to change their name.

If 'super intelligence' is such a "highly accepted" phrase, why is Trump so insecure about some people not using it? The 'gentleman' doth protest too much.

[–] bigbangdangler@reddthat.com 10 points 2 hours ago

Just wait until he finds out that SI means yes in Spanish.

Of course, the conman is fuming that nobody cares about changing the name of AI because his latest con depends on the value of all the .si domains they purchase in June going up.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 hour ago

Hahahaha that's so stupid, God

[–] Herbie@lemmy.world 8 points 2 hours ago
[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 1 points 49 minutes ago

Oh, don't worry, I don't give it that much credit either. That's slop.

[–] AbouBenAdhem@lemmy.world 46 points 3 hours ago (4 children)

Instead of “artificial intelligence” or “super intelligence", how about “Trump-like intelligence”?

Everyone can read into that whatever implications they want.

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 2 hours ago

Sub intelligence

[–] chahn.chris@piefed.social 4 points 2 hours ago

Wow this is so good

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Donald^®^

Wonder if he'll be dumb enough to fight Apple as well who calls it AI, using the name Apple Intelligence since iOS 18. It got a lot more Integrated with their latest OS's but I don't see them throwing away the name Apple Intelligence so quickly after putting the name in over a billion devices.

[–] KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org 1 points 55 minutes ago

You should declare war on shipping the enemy sensitive jet aircraft parts. Or getting our main bases blown to shit in the middle east. Or perhaps you shouldn't have let the Arabs buy all the oil production in southeast Texas so they only make gasoline which is sent overseas to Europe where it sells for more (while America pays more than ever in the entire lifespan of automobiles...)

I digress.

Thanks trump. You're every bit the sorry shit you've ever been - and now you're channeling Baron Vladimir Harkonnen.

Oh, and by the way - I saw those pics of the aircraft carrier - the one without food or water? Yeah... it looked like shit. I've seen better looking garbage barges. It's called PAINT AND MAINTENANCE.

All kidding aside - FEED THEM, CLOTHE THEM, PROVIDE FOOD AND SHELTER AND A DECENT PLACE TO LIVE.

You sorry assed criminal piece of shit.

He'd never read this - don't worry. trigger some maggats?

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 10 points 2 hours ago

Well, he is right in one thing. Trump and I are enemies.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 15 points 3 hours ago

Oh no, the pedophilic con man called me the enemy...

Stupid Intelligence

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

What a lame and deeply insecure loser

[–] davidgro@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

Well, I've been trying to avoid calling those systems "AI" (outside of quotes and such) for years. Because they aren't intelligent. They are LLMs and diffusion models.

I'm still the enemy of course.

[–] nonentity@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

The opinion of anyone who is impressed by the function or output of a LLM, to the level they believe it is in any way adjacent to intelligence, should be summarily dismissed, and ridiculed should they persist.

They should also be explicitly quarantined from any decision making process that affects anyone not similarly cognitively impaired.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 hour ago

[–] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

this little bitch really needs to be the center of all attention nowadays

[–] darkdemize@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 hour ago

He's always been like this. Always.

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago

Here comes another “executive order”

…which happens to be the White House Staffers internal term for a full diaper

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Laugh now. But he's one executive order away from having the power to arrest anyone who uses forbidden language.

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

I'll call it SI: Simulated Intelligence

Because it isn't actual intelligence and it sure as hell isn't "super"

[–] nonentity@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 hour ago

Sans Intelligence.

[–] Astronut@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 hours ago

How about

A sshole

I n charge!

Did the chatbot tell his assistant to tell him that? How big was the poster they printed out for him to "read"?

[–] NekoKoneko@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

I can't tell whether this story emphasizes the "stable" or "genius" parts of Trump more.
