Don't shit on RFK Jr for being a recovering addict, shit on him for being an idiot trying to force his idiocy on the whole country

Or for being a nepo baby and skating through life, that's fine to make fun of

Don’t shit on RFK Jr for being a recovering addict

....Recovering?

[–] joelfromaus@aussie.zone 13 points 1 week ago

That brain worm has an immune system that should be studied for science.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I just get a vibe that he didn’t stop being an addict because he wanted to improve himself or right wrongs. It was getting in the way of him having access to the family wealth and status.

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

I mean I appreciate you taking that point.

But I am going to shit on that guy for whatever reason, because he basically shits on the rest of us like that.

I don't mind recovered or recovering addicts, as long as they have a modicum of humility about their behaviour.

This fucker has none, he's unrepentant. My shit will go there, unrelentant.

He's destroying any health safeguards and killing many by proxy. He will not have my respect. I will shit on his grave like he shat on his family legacy.

[–] kestrel7_7@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

When you make fun of RFKjr for being an addict, it doesn’t hurt him. But it does hurt addicts who can hear you.

It’s like making fun of Trump for being fat. It doesn’t hurt Trump, it just hurts any fat people in earshot.

Both of these guys are terrible people for reasons that have actually nothing to do with drug use or body weight. Focus on that shit.

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I do not make fun of addicts. I think I'm this case his being a former addict it's even irrelevant, as he's a shit person first and foremost.

Most recovering addicts one known have taken a very positive and beneficial outlook on life and that is praiseworthy.

[–] Sanguine@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

People in recovery already deal with enough stigma. What we are saying is shit on him for things that don't also shit on folks in recovery. The list is a mile long you can pick as much as you like, but leave folks suffering from addiction and those who are in recovery out of it.

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

This man, in a professional capacity, has boasted about snorting off of toilet seats.

He brings more harm to refoering people than anyone could by mocking his being a heroin dealer who is now controlling vaccine policy.

[–] Sanguine@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Its okay not to get it, but your doubling down on some nonsense.

A persons behavior during active use usually carries a lot of shame. Its not unusual to want to tell some of colorful stories from that part of a persons life, especially if they are now living in recovery.

I hate this guy as much as the next but saying his boasting about a pretty tame drug story does more to hurt addicts than anyone just isn't true. And on top of that its simply more stigma.

What you are implying is that a person who has done that has no business being in [insert respectful career].

I do not believe at all that a person who's been addicted doesn't deserve his position. Quite the contrary.

However, boasting about their past behaviors clearly has no regret for what they've done. No remorse for the drugs that they've sold. And frankly, while this is one facet that's important to you, for the rest of us, it's just one thing amongst a torrent of others.

[–] kestrel7_7@lemmy.world -2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So if RFKjr bullies addicts, it’s OK for you to do it too? Listen to yourself, my dude

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

We aren’t bullying addicts. We are bullying one specific addict.

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Agreed and it is immersive enough to try and kick an addiction. Most former addicts I known have become a very much better person on top of that terrible struggle.

In this car him being a former addicts is maybe even besides the point. He's just a horrible person. Dot.

[–] Sanguine@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago

Thanks for being open to changing your mind about it 🀘

When he was an environmental lawyer attacking corporations i thought he might be a good guy.

I now suspect it was his ego he was protecting, not the environment.

[–] andrewrgross@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 week ago

Ya.

This meme takes a good point and then phrases it in the most peak smug lib voice possible.

[–] Canconda@lemmy.ca 24 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

RFK did cocaine off toilet seats.

[–] mrmisses@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago

And how do we know this? Because he told us! And he's still in power. This country is a joke

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

off dead carrion too, probably.

[–] Mynameisallen@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I mean, mostly I'm against people demonizing others for being addicts. But I'll make an exception this time

[–] xylol@leminal.space 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I just remember him saying this

RFK Jr. replied, "There are many really gold star rehabs that do it for a tiny fraction, like $20,000 to $40,000 a month."

[–] kestrel7_7@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Lmao anyone with that much money doesn’t even need drugs in the first place

[–] likebudda@reddthat.com 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A smart person was mean to them once while explaining something to them and they're holding that grudge as a 2nd religion.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

also preference for comfortable lies over uncomfortable truths.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

RFK also drove one of his family members(brother i believe) to suicide, preceded by heroin which also driven him into.

apparently with memhet oz they already begun cutting medicaid, and required min work hours per month, with bi-yearly authorization.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

he drove his brother to Heroin, and ODed on it.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

David Kennedy? He did OD, that's true. Hard to find information on it anymore, though.

With the ex-wife's suicide by hanging, it was pretty straightforward that it really was deliberate suicide and that RFK Jr had everything to do with it.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

RFK jr drove both of them to thier deaths. david, with HEROIN until he OD, and his former wife, suicide first by drinking and making her give up her career.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

Weren't they all fucked up anyway from all the assassinations and other crazy shit going down in that family?

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

You may well be right. I would not argue the point, lol. It's just that as old as I am, all the tragic Kennedy stories have started to blend, if you know what I mean. For me Jack and Bobby are standouts, Jackie and JFK Jr sort of, and the rest, well. . .

[–] MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

But but Fauci shut down the system that grinds poor people's sweat and tears into arrow go up!

[–] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The arrow continued so lol

[–] MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I think that's what pissed the 1% off more. The illusion was dispelled. Nothing bad happened, people got along, and work life balance was harmonized.

Well harmonized for some. Healthcare workers are still getting fucked over by administration changes they rolled out to squeeze them for every ounce they could give.

[–] Montreal_Metro@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

Comparison of top level politicians is the cringest shit ever. They all suck on a level where the differences become irrelevant to the normal citizen. Even if they differ slightly they are still evil enough to be on the top of a broken system.

Edit: Using the word junkie as a slur is also pretty questionable

[–] zonnewin@feddit.nl -4 points 1 week ago

I don't trust either one.
