Can you imagine how the right would react if this was done by a dem president? They may have actually started a civil war over it.

[–] SalaciousBCrumb@lemy.lol 81 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Wasn’t there a conspiracy theory about Obama or something opening foreign military base on US soil?

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 50 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Jade Helm, back in '14/'15 was a massive military training exercise across the Southwest. We'd been saber rattling across North Africa and the Middle East for ages, so this was larger than normal but not inconsistent with US foreign policy. Just another day in the paradise of the imperial core.

But Republican influencers and spokesdorks jumped on it as an actual invasion of the territory being practiced over. Then several of the state governors chimed in, demanding that Obama halt his occupation of their states. We had a big rash of "Should Texas be allowed to secede?!" discourse. Obama issued an apology or some dumb shit. Republicans declared victory. Yadda yadda.

"Should Texas be allowed to secede?!"

Yes. Please go. Soon.

[–] Objection@lemmy.ml 17 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Texas should be forced to secede.

The article has a quote that literally blames this on Biden and Obama.

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 66 points 11 months ago (2 children)

God damn people are fucking stupid.

"Twenty-four years after foreign nationals trained in our flight schools flew planes into our buildings, our leaders are inviting their financiers to train inside our bases. This is what happens when you gut national-security training, scrub every mention of Islam, jihad, and Sharia from the manuals, and let Obama- and Biden-era bureaucrats turn counterterrorism into cultural sensitivity class. We’re being led by officials who no longer recognize or refuse to name the enemy they’re inviting into our own backyard."

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 33 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Oh "name the enemy" is a terrifying dogwhistle

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 21 points 11 months ago (3 children)
[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

Nah its the Austrians. They keep insisting they don't have kangaroos but this picture I found of Hitler riding a kangaroo says otherwise. They will remain the enemy until I can enjoy a traditional oktoberfest, koala and all!

Mate, your civil war has already begun. Most of you don’t realize it yet though, but you will soon enough.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 28 points 11 months ago

Minor correction.

It never ended. It just went cold in 1865.

Really, never? Seems like he fucks over his people at least once a week.

Christ on sale, these people are stupid. The GOP-led Congress could pass a law called the Fuck Our MAGA Simps In Particular Act, signed by Trump, and they'd still blame Obama.

[–] kautau@lemmy.world 75 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Well at least now we know the price of opening an airbase in the US for non-NATO countries

Qatar base? In Idaho?

Ok, now you're fucking with me. I don't believe any of you that this is real.

[–] Samskara@sh.itjust.works 33 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It’s a Qatari Air Force base for Training.

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 24 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Wouldn’t that be the first and only foreign base in us soil? Trump really bent over and lubed up

For what legitimate purpose could Qatar have to put a military facility on Idaho? And Trump and Hegseth have absolutely no legitimate reason to allow it. Clearly payback for the bribery of the Plane and future bribes.

[–] olympicyes@lemmy.world 21 points 11 months ago (3 children)

More importantly, they probably bought unknown quantities of his $TRUMP crypto.

Just checked r/Conservative and they seem completely unfazed. They literally do not care.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 29 points 11 months ago

Any time I see one of these "MAGA revolts" stories, AND/OR an article from rawstory.com, I know I can ignore it.

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world 19 points 11 months ago

Yup. These stories are just copium articles for the left so we keep letting this shithead do whatever he wants.

I remember what happened the last time US trained middle eastern pilots in the late 90s / very early 2000s

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 16 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Wow, was it something spectacular, eye opening, and thought provoking?

I just love, that even in this, they seem to find a way to still, blame Obama and Biden for it.

This is what happens when you gut national-security training, scrub every mention of Islam, jihad, and Sharia from the manuals, and let Obama- and Biden-era bureaucrats turn counterterrorism into cultural sensitivity class. We’re being led by officials who no longer recognize or refuse to name the enemy they’re inviting into our own backyard.

The cope is strong with that one.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 35 points 11 months ago (7 children)

How are any of then surprised? Trump is the most easily bribeable man to ever be president.

Also, in totally unrelated news, Trump's personal wealth jumped by another half billion dollars thanks to his personal cryptocurrency suddenly going up in value.

And yet as outraged as they are, MAGA still finds a way to say this is the Democrats' fault:

This is what happens when you gut national-security training, scrub every mention of Islam, jihad, and Sharia from the manuals, and let Obama- and Biden-era bureaucrats turn counterterrorism into cultural sensitivity class. 🙄

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 25 points 11 months ago

Ah those MAGA cucks love getting fucked by Trump. It gets them off.

They'll complain and then tomorrow go "Yes daddy"

[–] nao@sh.itjust.works 25 points 11 months ago

still they somehow blame "Obama- and Biden-era bureaucrats" for it

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 25 points 11 months ago (5 children)

Close ally to President Trump, Laura Loomer, lamented the news after advocating that the administration declare the Muslim Brotherhood an international terrorist organization.

"Well, I guess this isn’t going to happen since we just gave the Muslim Brotherhood an air base in Idaho. So much for my decade worth of hard work trying to protect Americans from the threat of Islamic terror," said Loomer about the new base.

Lololol

"No foreign country should have a military base on U.S. soil," she also said. "Especially Islamic countries. I have never felt more betrayed by the GOP than I do now watching Islamic jihadists get away with implementing Sharia law in the US and now they are getting their own airbase where they will train to kill Americans."

Imagine building military bases in foreign countries then freaking out when a foreign country builds a military base in yours: the US finally gets to know how it feels.

Exactly what expeditonary capacity does Qatar have? US based across Europe and Pacific are in compliance with NATO and other defensive treaties. US and Qatar have no such agreements. This entire deal is just Trump and co pocketing a bribe.
