the accuser is a republican operative that supported brett kavanaugh and dismissed Christine Blasey Ford.
I wish Platner would have just sat out one round of elections, supported some other runners to show his bona fides for the party, and then run for a rep role in 2028.
Why isn't that a choice if he is a team player ?
I wasn't following this primary before Platner was the Democratic front-runner, so not sure who the alternatives were. Janet Mills? Platner's message resonated with the people of Maine. At any rate, it's looking like it'll be Platner vs. collins, and collins has proven that she's terrible for Maine.
Mills conceded a couple weeks ago.
Because the party itself is broken.
Democrats have a leadership problem, in that there needs to be a full purge and replacement to clear out the institutional rot. The backlash the establishment dems have gotten is on full display with Platner, in that Mainers ignored what the party wanted and voted on principal.
No more "paying your dues to the party" no more "change takes time, guys" no more "vote blue no matter who". That thinking has let that orange sack of facist pigshit rape our country and its institutions.
And Schumer and the dems folded at EVERY JUNCTURE when faced with the fact that they actually have to do something to stop Trump.
Tl:Dr - The Democrats in charge had their chance to fix this years ago, but they chose institutions over people, and now they are paying the piper.
I wish he would have sat out forever. He's unrepentant about his involvement with the military and is looking to increase military benefits.
The left has no need of people who are in support of expanding the military, especially considering what it's been up to recently. Just one "drug" boat targeted by us would be enough to demonstrate that our military has no intention of following the law or denying illegal orders. Unfortunately for us there have been enough "drug" boat attacks to demonstrate that the entire organization is corrupt and not worthy of its current budget.
If we have enough firepower to waste murdering civilians then we should consider investing more money in schools so people can learn the definition of the word. Any politician who can't see that should not be taken seriously or embraced by the left.
Man, I hate you people. I don't know if you've just fallen for the crap or if you're one spreading it, but he's one of the few people who are actually against military spending! If he was actually in favor of the military, do you think he'd do that?
Yeah, he's sympathetic to the people who were fucked over and abused to fight for whatever bullshit the elites manufactured. I am too. I'm also in favor of supporting the working class, even when they're working for a company like MS or something. It isn't their fault, and they're our people (meaning not the owner class). They're kids who usually signed up for the benefits to improve their lives. They're not bad people.
We should reduce spending and stop sending kids into wars. We should also help the ones that were fucked over. How do you make that controversial? Oh, you're just trying to come up with something to complain about to promote apathy?
Yeah, like the soldiers at Abu Ghraib? Or the ones who gleefully worked for Blackwater? How about the ones who have previously talked about having a deep desire to kill?
How about the ones that fit into all of the above (and also have Nazi tattoos)?
Does that "help" include voting them into office?
Are y'all really this naive? All it takes is some socialism lip service, and you're all in. Have some fucking standards.
I appreciate your perspective, but please note I'm not attempting to promote apathy. I've said regularly to go out and vote, even for imperfect candidates, and I understand why people would vote for him, but he has removed several parts of his platform after being publicly criticized for them. Below is an archived version of his website that has the following quotes:
Full disclosure, I have very little sympathy for our troops and see what they do as very different than working for MS or something. I'm not against them moving on from that life, but I don't think we should be supporting an increase in recruitment until we can get a handle on rape within the military, war crimes, and better options for civilians. If we keep investing in compensation for troops and vets it will be more and more tempting for the exact wrong kind of people (people who just need a paycheck). I know people in the military and they often went that route because there was no other options for them. We should have much higher recruitment standards. That should in part stop people who sign up and have no concept of right and wrong and do war crimes for fun.
I also do not support the VA. There should not be a two tier system for healthcare. If a vet qualifies for Medicare or Medicaid then they should have access, but we need Medicare for all and a VA stands in the way of that.
To be clear I don't care too much about the concept of military spending in general. A military is needed after all, but I'd rather money be spent on corruption and waste than on more soldiers. As it stands now, I do not feel safer in a room with soldiers, so I don't like the idea of making more of them.
To be as fair as possible to him, he does say he wants to get rid of military spending fraud and stop forever wars, but that seems like an extension of his want to devote more spending to the actual military.
