the accuser is a republican operative that supported brett kavanaugh and dismissed Christine Blasey Ford.

I wish Platner would have just sat out one round of elections, supported some other runners to show his bona fides for the party, and then run for a rep role in 2028.

Why isn't that a choice if he is a team player ?

I wasn't following this primary before Platner was the Democratic front-runner, so not sure who the alternatives were. Janet Mills? Platner's message resonated with the people of Maine. At any rate, it's looking like it'll be Platner vs. collins, and collins has proven that she's terrible for Maine.

Mills conceded a couple weeks ago.

Because the party itself is broken.

Democrats have a leadership problem, in that there needs to be a full purge and replacement to clear out the institutional rot. The backlash the establishment dems have gotten is on full display with Platner, in that Mainers ignored what the party wanted and voted on principal.

No more "paying your dues to the party" no more "change takes time, guys" no more "vote blue no matter who". That thinking has let that orange sack of facist pigshit rape our country and its institutions.

And Schumer and the dems folded at EVERY JUNCTURE when faced with the fact that they actually have to do something to stop Trump.

Tl:Dr - The Democrats in charge had their chance to fix this years ago, but they chose institutions over people, and now they are paying the piper.

Based on the current President, how is this even an issue?

Because the left has actual moral convictions that aren't just for pretend

[–] MyVeryRealName@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Moral convictions don't win elections

[–] killea@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

A small group among the left seem to; saying this in regards to the left (in government: democrats, at least) in general is not accurate. It is relatively unknown to me how much of the American populace is actually woke (and I intend the old definition of that word - I think it should be retaken by those of us that desire a sociopolitically aware citizenry).

We're just watching our blatantly broken and backward system do its thang. Proven rapist, adulterer, reality tv star, con man, liar, and all-around garbage human being gets kid gloves/lord and saviour treatment, while progressive anti-billionaire leaning former marine oyster farmer, with a questionable tattoo, an edgy social media past, and maybe cheated on his wife gets lambasted and crucified by what is all at this point essentially state run or just heavily for profit media.

The problem is not Nazi tattoo dude. Dumbass immature white boys are a dime a dozen. The problem is your ridiculous electoral system.

Anyone left of Collins is locked in now. Enjoy the next six years.
