I strongly suspect, I wouldn’t like whatever „music“ anon listens to either

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 40 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I feel like they'd say their favorite genre is "anime soundtracks"

[–] scytale@piefed.zip 23 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (3 children)

To be fair, there ARE great anime soundtracks out there. They get actual bands/musicians to make them. But yes, anon probably has shit taste in music.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Ther's Yoko Kano, Nujabes, Tsuneo Imahori... people like that...

... and then theres 192 bpm J-Pop song #4838573.

And then of course there's Jojo, where... basically half or more of the characters just are named after, or a pun on classic rock bands or songs.

Whole wide spectrum out there, but there certainly is a lot of formulaic slop.

I definitely agree (RIP Nujabes)

More of a joke about someone calling "anime soundtracks" a genre because they're musically uncultured. I don't even like The Doors lol

Probably just a soundtrack of assorted hentai moans.

[–] trashgirlfriend@lemmy.world 16 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I can't believe people are still disparaging gooncore as a genre in 2025 :^(

The mosh pits are too sticky.

CIA funded circus music, lol. It all makes sense now

[–] semisimian@startrek.website 28 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Hey man, let's take some poorly written beat poetry and put it over mediocre guitar compositions. Then we can take a talented keyboardist but make him play the shittiest sounding electric organ. And we can make sure the recording makes it all sound like a cat and some tin cans in a dryer.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 34 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (3 children)

I'm partial to talented keyboardists playing shitty sounding electric organs myself. Shoutout to Deep Purple.

[–] accideath@feddit.org 14 points 10 months ago (1 children)

There are far too few shitty sounding electric organs in modern music.

Didn't Jon Lord use a Hammond organ? One of the best sounding instruments ever.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 7 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Yes but after amp and distortion it sounds like a cyber cabaret church and I love it. He also used an electric harpsichord for some songs, another awesome sounding instrument

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

A hammond tearing through a Marshall stack is a statement.

Pinhead anon has no talent.

[–] Substance_P@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Absolutely, one of the best organ grooves in my opinion came from Jon Lord's Hammond C3 organ on "Lazy", specifically from the album Made in Japan. Boomer gold!

[–] XTL@sopuli.xyz 7 points 10 months ago

I guess that's literally what she said.

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 27 points 10 months ago

Don't ever shit talk The Doors

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 24 points 10 months ago (5 children)

Yeah but you gotta do a bong rip as a big Midwestern storm approaches while listening to riders on the storm

Still better than anything with autotune.

[–] FreeAZ@sopuli.xyz 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The vast majority of songs these days use autotune, you just can't hear it because it's being used properly to fix when the singer is slightly off key.

The "autotune" sound only happens when the artist is purposefully singing off key.

[–] bluesheep@sh.itjust.works 10 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (2 children)

Almost true. The "autotune effect" only appears if you dial the knobs all the way up when setting up the effect. But you are correct that properly used autotune is pretty much not noticeable.

Using autotune also does not automatically make you a bad singer. T-Pain is very known for the autotune effect he uses on his vocals, but he is an amazing singer even without using it.

I'm going to have to steal that first line for describing the next thing I suspect of being funded by the CIA.

[–] eestileib@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 10 months ago (14 children)

Yeah the Doors had great songs and long shit songs, like every band.

The Beatles had long shit songs, Led Zeppelin, Kanye, Gustav Mahler...

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 12 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Which long songs by Pink Floyd are shitty? 🤔

[–] Peruvian_Skies@sh.itjust.works 7 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I'm not especially fond of Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict.

I appreciate this post, as I hate the Doors.

I am drunk, I am nobody. I am drunk, I am famous. I am drunk, I am dead.

In the words of the immortal Kids in the Hall,

"Doors fans aren't made, they are born."

And of course

"The gypsies had no homes, the Doors had no bass. But don't let that scare you my friend, let that liberate you!"

[–] AEGIS2317@feddit.org 9 points 10 months ago

I love the doors, but this gave me a good laugh

How dare you.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 6 points 10 months ago

That's what they used to say about The Doors way back then, too.

[–] manuallybreathing@lemmy.ml 6 points 10 months ago

Im sure the creeps on 4chan would love all these older musicians if they took the time to read about them, and how they were basically all abusing kids
