Seems like this is just an American thing. I have a German and an American account and couldn't find the "About You" page on the German one. Man, I love GDPR

I love how it categorizes my full time professional job, which I did a degree in and everything, as a "hobby."
They pegged me as someone who reads cheap ebooks, only reads Dungeon Crawler Carl, pretty much buys only D&D battle mat books, and shops from womens departments. I’m a married male, but that last one had me laughing. I have bought things for my wife in the past.
"Likely lives in City, State"
Birch you ship everything I've ever ordered to the same address. Best you can do is "likely"?
Someone in the meeting was like “Okay, but what if the purchaser is a sugar daddy? Or they are buying goods to a blind shipper to evade export bans?”
And that’s likely how “Technically correct, but kind of annoying Terry” got his hyper-specific nickname.
“Systematically building electronics laboratory.”
That’s so much nicer than saying I’m constantly trying and failing at my hobbies as I realize how little I know and how ill prepared I am for my ambitions.
Same here with "likely prefers specialized tools for specific tasks" rather than "hyperfocuses on a new hobby every month and convinces themselves to buy the pro tool 9000 because they will absolutely not leave it collecting dust this time"

The cold weather ebiking stuff is funny and unique, it would be a "no shit" if it realized I live in Minnesota, but because this account predates my move Amazon just doesn't have a "lives in place" listing for me.
So it's definitely pulling from Whole Foods sales info too, I noticed their self checkout recognizing me when I used the same credit card they have on file. There's a Whole Foods across the street from the vape shop I used to go to and they were the only place anywhere nearby that carried a local brewery NA beer that I like, and those purchases have to be the source of the "non-alcoholic specialty food" thing.
Lmao they think I have kids.
…actually now that I think about it for 5 seconds I think they just love defrauding advertisers.
Every so often I “fake a pregnancy” and disable my ad blocker for this very reason. I love damaging their conversion rates.
You know, I'm actually kindof proud that Amazon figured this out about me...

Seems to only work on Amazon.com. My .ca info isnt shared. It says the following though:
"Make Amazon even more personal to you
Your other AI assistants have learned about you. Bring that knowledge here for an even more personalized experience."
I think I'll go chuck my computer and iot devices into a dumpster now.

That's boring
Just checked and Amazon has this for my buttocks “Fully caked buttocks”.
Anybody know what this means?
It means you a certified snack.
Amazon being ableist, the preferred term is diminished gluteal syndrome.
~/s~

Nothing like “falsely reports products as stolen to get a refund while keeping them.” Phew! I mean… damn porch pirates!
I don't have Amazon
does anybody have the link to the about you page? I want to send it to friends
found the link https://www.amazon.com/slc/hub?useAiMode=1
is it .com only?
Mine has nearly everything other than brand preferences wrong, since I buy both my stuff and other people's stuff plus gifts through the same account.
Honestly I am not surprised at all that they have this. I'm more surprised that this information became public, but with AI I suppose it was inevitable.
Since no one is linking the page and I had to go hunt it down myself: https://www.amazon.com/slc/hub?useAiMode=1
Mine doesn't have anything interesting, probably because I avoid using Amazon if possible.
Mine is pretty boring. Honestly, I imagine Amazon has a much deeper profile for us hidden away and this is the one they wanted us to find to diffuse our suspicions of being constantly spied on... Seriously, I bet me TV knows more about me than that list.
I don't think it's that elaborate of a conspiracy. The "deeper" profile "hidden away" is just not in plain English. They probably had to do extra processing to produce the neat human interpretable data. I'm guessing the real purpose of this is getting the humans to look at it and correct the mistakes because a lot of people are dumb enough to do just that.
What's the cheapest way to gaslight these data points?
Let's say one has $10 to spare, what would you buy to ruin their model?
I wouldn’t give Amazon a fucking dime
Agreed. It's a conversation topic, I fully agree.
I bought fake moss for an art project I was doing and it thinks I'm super into moss home decor.
Bribe one of the employees managing the database to enter random shit on your account.
An email claiming you moved to the EU and went them to remove all your data.
"Has a cat"
Ha ha bitches, I have TWO cats! Suck it big data, you LOSE!
